The Summer Stadium Tour ROCKS the Bay at Oracle Park; Def Leppard, Journey & Steve Miller Band

The Summer Stadium Tour featuring Def Leppard, Journey, and the Steve Miller Band was nothing short of a nostalgic powerhouse, each act bringing a unique flavor to the evening, making it a night to remember. They turned back the hands of time and ROCKED the Bay like it was the 1980’s!

The night kicked off with Steve Miller Band, instantly transporting the audience back in time as they opened with “Swingtown.” The sound was impeccable, and the energy was palpable from the first note. As the sun still hung in the sky, it felt like a throwback to the iconic Day on the Green concerts of the 70s. The setlist was a crowd-pleaser, delivering all the classics like “Living in the USA,” “Fly Like an Eagle,” “The Joker,” and “Jet Airliner.” A special moment came with the dedication of “Abracadabra” to Eminem, blending the old with the new in a nod to musical influences across generations.  Check out photos from Rockin Ryan:

Next up was Journey, the hometown faves who were on fire from start to finish. Every note, every chord was a time machine, transporting us back to the band’s heyday while simultaneously creating new memories. The setlist was filled with their greatest hits, but a standout moment was a touching guitar solo of “I Left My Heart in San Francisco,” a tribute to the late Tony Bennett. The band also dedicated “Faithfully” to the men and women of the armed forces, a gesture that brought the entire stadium to its feet. Their iconic hit “Lights” was dedicated to former manager Herbie Herbert and Steve Perry, a poignant reminder of the band’s enduring legacy. The crowd went wild and sang along to each and every song.  The last five songs had you on a full on adrenaline rush with Wheels in the Sky, Lights, Separate Ways, Don’t Stop Believin and Any Way You Want it. It was an explosion of hits and then at the end, streamers rained down on the fans.

Finally, the Pyroclock countdown began, and the stage erupted as Def Leppard kicked things off with “Rock Rock ’Til You Drop.” From that moment on, it was a nonstop adrenaline rush of pure rock ‘n’ roll. The band was incredibly tight, with every note and beat resonating through the stadium. They utilized the catwalk to its full extent, engaging with fans and commanding the stage like the legends they are. It felt like being back in the 80s, cruising with the windows down and the volume cranked up.

There was a moment when they played Love Bites, and you could look around the crowd and see so many women, standing up, dancing and you could just tell this was “their anthem song” and they were truly living in those reminiscing moments!  All the songs were our favorites, it would be hard to pick a highlight.  A real special moment was during the band’s performanc of Photograph the band displayed a series of photos showcasing the journey of the band over the years. The images captured moments from their early days to the present. This tribute to their history added a touching and nostalgic layer to the performance, resonating deeply with the audience as they reminisced alongside the band. It was a powerful reminder of the band’s enduring legacy and the memories they’ve created with their fans over the decades. The crowd was a mix of longtime fans and a new generation of rock enthusiasts, proving that these bands are truly timeless and that rock ‘n’ roll will live on for years to come.

In all, this tour was a triumphant celebration of rock history, with three iconic bands showing why they continue to reign supreme across generations.
