Lou Reed
March 2, 1942 – October 27, 2013
Legendary Lou Reed has passed away at age 71. There has been no report as to the cause of death but Lou did undergo a liver transplant in May of this year. Lou Reed has one of those distinct voices that could be identified just a few notes. Not only having great success as the lead singer of Velvet Underground but achieved many successes with his solo career.
Lou did have and extensive history with drinking and drug use and earlier this year he had canceled five California concert dates in April. In May he underwent a liver transplant. Reed never acknowledged the transplant but did post the following on his website in June , “I am a triumph of modern medicine,””I look forward to being on stage performing, and writing more songs to connect with your hearts and spirits and the universe well into the future.”
Today on his Facebook page was the following photo with the caption. The Door
So today pull out your records or just head over to Youtube in this digital age and play some Lou Reed in his honor. My playlist for the day will include Walk on The Wild Side, Turn to Me, Wild Child, Sweet Jane and Perfect Day.
