Hey Violet releases angsty new track, Uncomplicated for Valentine’s Day

February 14, 2024

What better way to celebrate Valentine’s Day than cranking up the new track Uncomplicated from Hey Violet. The band released the angsty new track today. Rena Lovelis comments about the new song, “This song was a way to call out my own distorted thinking in relationships… a sort of reckoning for what I chase and why I chase it. I remember when I was 16 years old and I was dating someone who was just a total sweetheart, and I was bored out of my mind. It really had nothing to do with that person; it was the volatility that Nia and I grew up witnessing that then transgressed into my relationships later on.”   “Uncomplicated was initially written by us, our friend Robbie Hiser, and an artist friend for their project, but we ended up loving the song and asked if we could have it for this album. The lyrics really feel like a harsh spotlight on my thinking and we thought it was an important part of the album as a whole. It [Read More]

Excited to share the new track from Hey Violet as they sign to Hopeless Records

October 16, 2023

We are so excited to share the awesome news of Hey Violet signing to Hopeless Records. As the Los Angeles based alt pop band ushers in a new era the release of their new single, i should call my friends makes a big splash. The infectious new track will have longtime fans and new ones dancing along in no time. Vocalist Rena Lovelis shares of the Track:    “i should call my friends” is a cry to a nostalgic reminiscing of youth and the song is simultaneously calling out bad habits I (Rena) slip into sometimes, like isolating and not keeping in contact with people as much as I normally would. This song is a super fun but acutely self-reflective anthem that paints a picture of a widely felt human experience – our need for connection with each other and compassion for ourselves. This song really touches on struggles with mental illness and how that in itself can make one feel incredibly disconnected. We want listeners to know that if you feel that way, you are not [Read More]

HEY VIOLET release new song Close My Eyes and catch them kick off their tour in SF on May 28th!

May 24, 2019

Hey Violet have just released an addictive new song, Close My Eyes which is now available on Hi or Hey/Capitol Records. It is now available for streaming and purchase from all digital partners. Rena Lovelis explains more about the new song, “’Close My Eyes’ is essentially about living in a fantasy land. It’s about the idea of still wanting to be with an ex who has already moved on. There’s definitely a level of denial that goes into being in that sort of headspace because you’re basically rejecting the present reality and not allowing yourself to move forward. The song sounds very calm and chill but in the lyrical content there’s an air of tension because of that refusal to accept things as they are.” “Close My Eyes,” which was written by Hey Violet with Sean Kennedy, Tim Anderson, and Aron Forbes (the latter two who co-produced), is the second of four new tracks the band is set to release throughout the spring and summer. The first, “Better By Myself,” was released in April, along with an [Read More]
