Theory of a Deadman is our Monster Energy Aftershock Featured Band of the Day

July 29, 2014

Today we are back at highlighting the many awesome bands on the lineup for this year’s Monster Energy Aftershock Festival. Our spotlight for today is on one of my personal favorites, Theory of a Deadman. I was glad to see them on the lineup because it has been way too long since my last concert of theirs. They have also just released their new album, Savages on Roadrunner Records. This is the fifth full length album for the Canadian rockers and it is another great one. They have definitely honed in on mastering their craft and taken chances on this album that I think are well taken. I love to see a band evolve into their own style and doing what they want to do and make the music “they” want and this album highlights their great songwriting skills. Tyler Connolly explains more about this album, “It’s such a different record for us,” he asserts. “I’m known as the guy who writes all of the ‘breakup’ songs. It would have been typical to write more, so [Read More]

Living Colour proves the Glamour Boys are back as they take over the Thunder Valley Resort

July 28, 2014

Friday night we made it up to Lincoln, CA to cover the first ever That Metal Show concert featuring Burn Halo, Corey Taylor, Living Colour and Anthrax. It was a night that was sure to promise a full evening of kick ass metal under the baking sun. With the temperatures rising well over a 100, we tried to stay cool as the glamour boys of Living Colour took to the stage. It was so awesome to see them live. It has been well over 20 years since I had last seen them perform and they had me feeling like a spunky 20 year old again. Watching these Grammy Award winning rockers from New York take the stage, you are just captivated by their sound. The crowd were just as excited as we were and the energy from Living Colour spilled into the crowd and raised the heat once again. The heavy metal/hard rock jazz/funk infused music of Living Colour is something so unique that I couldn’t name a band today who does it as well [Read More]

Anthrax delivers a fierce set for the 1st ever That Metal Show concert at Thunder Valley Resort

July 27, 2014

We made it Friday night to the 1st ever That Metal Show concert which was held at the Thunder Valley Casino Resort in Lincoln, CA. The lineup included local favorite Burn Halo, Corey Taylor, Living Colour and Anthrax along with the hosts of That Metal Show; Don Jamieson, Eddie Trunk and Jim Florentine. We left early to make sure we had lots of time to hang out and get ready for a blazing night of metal. Well, after two accidents and road closures, what was to be a 2 hour ride doubled to 4. We arrived in time to hear the last two songs of Burn Halo which we were really looking forward to. We look forward to catch them at Aftershock in September. Corey Taylor did a great acoustic set and Living Colour got the crowd revved up and ready for more.   The heat was blazing at well over a 100 deg and then it really kicked up the heat when Anthrax took to the stage. One thing is certain when you go to [Read More]
