Check out the spectacular cover by Panic! at the Disco of Queen’s Bohemian Rhapsody

September 15, 2014

Panic! at the Disco have been performing their amazing set out on their Gospel Tour and we brought you our full coverage of their San Jose show. In case you missed it, you can check out our full coverage here: Panic! at the Disco at SJSU.  Panic! at the Disco had an amazing stage set up with probably one of the best light shows I have seen in a long time. One of the biggest highlights was to see their cover of Queen’s Bohemian Rhapsody. It was spine tingling. Want to check it out? Well watch this video of their spectacular cover: Vocalist, Brendon Urie, whom earlier this year won for Best Vocalist at the APMA awards proved once again that he is well deserving of the award. I can’t tell you how in awe I am of his vocals. This is definitely my top choice for my new list of Cover Songs!! Check out the photos by Rockin Ryan of their set: Check out a couple videos from the set: Also make sure you have [Read More]

We Are the West: EP series. Wondrous when recorded. Unforgettable when live.

September 15, 2014

By Patrick O’Heffernan, Host , Music FridayLive! Many people don’t know what to make of the band We Are the West. WAW is three people – John Kibler on vocals and bass, Brett Hool vocals and guitar, and Elizabeth Goodfellow on drums and backup harmonies.  They add other people for their shows and recordings and somehow manage to sound like an entire orchestra.  The music they play is unclassifiable, although for lack of a better term, I call it gentle rock. It is laden with harmonies, intricate solos – including drum solos – bell-like guitar riffs, and swirling sounds from a bass, flute, keyboard and out of this world voices. Not only is their music delightfully unclassifiable, but so is their selection of venues.  In addition to clubs and festivals, they play it in storm drains, shipping containers, sheep farms, abandoned convents, and an underground parking garage in Southern California in secret concerts tied to the Full moon. Regardless of where they play, parking garage or recording studio, everything they play is superb.   And We Are [Read More]

The Young Wild deliver a warm embrace to San Francisco through their spectacular set

September 12, 2014

The Young Wild have recently released their new EP, For Now Not Forever on September 2nd. We were excited to catch them as they set out on tour recently with Barcelona. They made a stop in San Francisco at The Bottom of the Hill and it was a spectacular night. The place was packed and they came on after a great set by Midnight Cinema. The Young Wild brought the crowded venue to life as they performed their emotionally driven and fun songs, laden with catchy choruses and sweet melodies. Being that their EP was only released several days before, it was wonderfully surprising to see how many were singing along to the words as if it was their old favorites. A couple highlights for me are Moment Goes and Cry Out. Cry Out is such a fantastic track and to hear it performed live, was like a warm embrace through their music. They bring a lot of passion into their songs and create a special connection with the listener. Check out the photos by [Read More]

Midnight Cinema light up the Bottom of the Hill with their stellar set

September 12, 2014

This past Sunday, we made it down to San Francisco to catch Midnight Cinema as they performed at The Bottom of the Hill in San Francisco. I have been waiting to catch them live and was so glad because all that waiting, was well worth it. They played to a packed crowd as they recently released their debut album, Lightning in a Bottle last month. It was great to see the crowd sing along to favorites like Hurricane, Back to the Butterflies, and Lightning in a Bottle. Another highlight is when they performed a dare I say…… cover… of Angel’s on the Moon, the big hit from their previous band Thriving Ivory. I must tell you that I was not expecting them to play that song and it really took me to a very special place and time and brought me the bittersweet memories of my daughter whom I lost many years ago. It was a song that I used to play that helped me get out from under the dark place I was [Read More]
