Pop Evil – Concert Review – Backstage Munich, Nov. 5th, 2014 and Interview with Leigh

November 8, 2014

Concert Review Contributed by Alexandra There was light rain outside and it got pretty cold in Munich that day. A few fans waited outside, when doors opened at 7pm. Show start was scheduled for 8pm. There wasn’t an opening act officially announced for the Germany tour, so it was kind of a surprise, who that would be. It was a local band called Thunder and Blitzkrieg (www.thunderandblitzkrieg.com). You can’t really define their music to a certain style. I’d say it’s hard rock with punk influences. They had a few fans there that knew the lyrics. When they started to play there weren’t really that many people there, but the ones that were seemed to like it.  Check out a slide show of photos from their set:   The room was more crowded, when at 9pm Pop Evil started their set. They were greeted with loud cheers and immediately started with ‚Flawed‘. Their 13  piece set-list consisted mostly of songs from their current record ‘Onyx‘, the album they tour now for almost 2 years. They played [Read More]

Switchblade Serenade announce new EP featuring a heavier modern sound

November 8, 2014

One of our favorite rock bands,  Switchblade Serenade have announced new music for the coming year. They have announced that they will be releasing a new EP and it will have a heavier modern sound. These guys are incredible musicians and I know one thing, they are unstoppable and we can’t wait to hear their new music.  They released the following statement on their Facebook page which tells a bit more of the vision of the band and the evolution of their new sound: Over the past few months we have had some changing thoughts on what we want Switchblade Serenade to be. Since we started we have been labeled as an “80’s glam/sleaze tribute band etc.”. We never set out to be anything like that. In our earlier years our influence of bands like Motley Crue and Guns N’ Roses was more prominent in our writing style. However we never wanted to be a so called “80’s Band”. We have been getting tired of being labeled as such and we wanted to let our other [Read More]

Dopamine by Lorelei Carlson: intoxicating emotions,  hallucinogenic voice. By Patrick O’Heffernan

November 8, 2014

The pharmacological definition of dopamine is “a neurotransmitter in the central nervous system that acts on the brain to control movement, emotion, pain and pleasure. It  also forces the contraction of the heart in the treatment of shock.”  The musical definition of  dopamine is Lorelei Carlson and her new album named after the chemical. Dopamine arouses movement and intoxicating and sometimes painful emotions while it grips your heart and heats your blood until it steams in your veins.  The effect is mystical, magical, disturbing and addictive. The child  of a bi-national couple of constantly moving diplomats who had  lived in seven countries by the time she was 15,  she knew she was special as a toddler.  She absorbed the culture and music of each of those countries and a determination to put them to work in her own  art for the audience that she knew would resonate with her.  And they do.  With a million  downloads on Myspace.com,  tens of thousands of followers and  multiple albums, she is standing on the cliff of stardom.  Dopamine  [Read More]

November 7, 2014

We recently brought you our show recap of Black Veil Brides and The Black Mass Tour  as it made it’s stop in San Francisco at the legendary Warfield Theater. We briefly told you about the energetic set of Set It Off and we know you want more! Set It Off hit the stage and the adrenaline in the crowd was raised up and you couldn’t help but get infected with the high powered vitality on that stage. It was great to see the crowd sing along to fan favorites as well as their new song, Why Worry.  If you weren’t familiar with Set It Off before that night, I am sure you left the Warfield acknowledging that they just might be your new favorite band. They are passionate musicians that light up the stage with their adrenalized pop/punk rock. No need to categorize with a genre, just enjoy the feel good music that invigorates you from head to toe.   Check out our photo gallery from Rockin Ryan of their set: Earlier this month, they premiered [Read More]

Rockers Greek Fire are on Top of The World with their song featured in Disney’s Big Heroes 6

November 7, 2014

When is the last time you heard a song that really left you with chills or a feel good feeling deep in your soul leaving you with butterflies in your stomach and hope in your heart? Well, I do because I remember the first time I heard Top of the World from Greek Fire, that is exactly how I felt.  It was amazing and still is every time I hear it. The song is on their Lost EP which was released earlier this year but it has been gaining in popularity as it is currently featured in Disney’s Big Heroes 6 film. Check out the song in the Disney trailer here: I know my seven year old has been begging me to take him to see the movie and I can’t wait! I am so glad to see Greek Fire get the attention they so well deserve. The track not only soaring guitars, emotionally driven lyrics but a chorus that makes you feel invincible. Having the track picked up by Disney has not only put [Read More]
