Concert Review: Devilment / Motionless In White / Lacuna Coil at Backstage in Munich, Germany

November 18, 2014

Contributed by Alexandra   Arriving a bit later than usual (it was about 30 minutes before show start) most people were already inside. The crowd was pretty mixed age-wise, the average definitely older than 30 I’d say, which in my opinion resides in the main act Lacuna Coil being around for quite some time in the music business and having a fan-base that started to build a while back. 8pm was show start. There’s really not much to say about the first opener Devilment. The music itself wasn’t that bad, but you have to be into the kind of singing their vocalist Dani Filth does which is high pitched screams or low voiced growling. The crowd waited for what was about to come. Next on were Motionless In White. They already had a fan base and I’m pretty sure they gained some new ones that night. It was a very energetic set. They started out with the first single of their recent, same-titled album, ‘Reincarnate’. Their 10 song set-list consisted of songs like ‘Abigail’, ‘Break the [Read More]

Interview with Sean Danielsen of Smile Empty Soul about solo EP and acoustic tour

November 18, 2014

The guitarist/vocalist Sean Danielsen from Smile Empty Soul has just released another solo EP, Food Chain which features five full band songs recorded at Babylon Studios in Van Nuys, California. “I’m really excited to be releasing my own solo music and doing my own shows,” said Danielsen. “It’s a nice change of pace for me, and a challenge that I’m looking forward to.” Sean truly takes you on a musical journey through emotion and his passion shines through each song. He really captures so much in his songwriting that creates an immediate connection to the listener and opens the door to their soul as demonstrated in Rescue Me and Beautiful Things. Food Chain highlights the versatility of Sean as it brings out a heavier rock edge with some amazing powerful and aggressive vocals that really stand out. The guitars have a punkier edge feel and you get amped with the fast pasted drums, definitely a new Go To track to start my day off! Sean is finishing up a round of acoustic shows and we had a [Read More]

San Jose gets fed a double dose of heavy metal with Judas Priest and Steel Panther

November 17, 2014

Sunday nights have really become the best night for great concerts and last night was definitely one of the finest nights in music. Northern California was treated to a double dose of heavy metal with legendary Judas Priest and the fun Steel Panther. We arrived at the City National Civic early to find a great line of dedicated fans waiting for the show. I was really excited to see that Steel Panther was opening for Judas Priest on this tour. We have had the great pleasure of seeing them over half a dozen times and they still hold top honors for the funnest concert ever attended. Before the show we were able to interview Michael Starr and Lexxi Foxx and we will be bringing that hilarious interview to you later this week. Steel Panther put on an awesome set that fired up the crowd and insured that everyone was having a great time. Even those that were not familiar with Steel Panther and might have at first found their humor which some may consider “off [Read More]

Interview with Shakerleg and  Isaac Koren of  The Kin by Patrick O’Heffernan

November 16, 2014

The best way to describe The Kin is wild men from Australia and the New York subway.  There is nothing like them:  two lead singers/guitarists who are brothers, a didgeridoo,  a drummer who doesn’t use sticks, and a habit of invading restaurants and airports to steal ears, fill them with music, and then return them. And along the way,  these three artists create  high energy,  high melody, high fun alt. rock that is completely unique.  They have worked with legendary  producers  Nic Hard and Tony Visconti and toured  down under with PINK playing  to arenas full of thousands of people.  They recently launched a grueling USA  tour, kicking it off at  the Bootleg Theater in los Angeles.  Isaac “Hijack” Koren and Mark “Shakerleg” Nicosia stopped by Music FridayLive! for a chat before  setting up for  their gig. Patrick. Welcome guys. I  love your band.  Shakerleg. Let’s be sure we understand who this band is.  There is a drummer who plays without sticks, that’s  me, and the other two guys  are hacks. Seriously, we have two [Read More]
