The Eeries Break The Barricade in NYC! Yes, You Read That Correctly. Contributed by Allison Socol

November 11, 2014

If by any chance you were wondering which band got the honored opportunity to tour with THE. ONE. AND. ONLY- “Uncle Jiggy” (A true MCR fan will understand who) on his ‘First’ new solo tour… Then you’ll be pleased to know it was a band called The Eeries. I was fortunate to see these guys in action at Webster Hall, NYC. And I think four words can sum up their performance: They. Broke. The. Barricade. No Joke! These guys had the crowd jumping up and down, dancing to the beat, and drooling over them. ( I mean who wouldn’t…they have beards! and long hair! :O) The crowd was going so hard in the pit, that when lead singer Isaiah Silva stage dived into the crowd, everyone was pushing against the barricade too hard and it started closing in on all the photographers in the pit. Not to mention the floor almost split into two from everyone jumping! But the moment these fans saw that Gerard Way walked on to the stage with these guys…..that was it for that [Read More]

Force of Habit opens for Otherwise and Buckcherry at Ace of Spades

November 10, 2014

I always like arriving early for shows at the Ace of Spades, in hopes of catching another great local band. We were there last week to cover the Otherwise and Buckcherry show and were glad to arrive just in time as one of our favorite local metal/hard rock bands took the stage, Force of Habit. We have caught these guys play several times in the past couple years and they always put on a great show. This was their first show with their new drummer, Max Ross and he was great! These guys have definitely refined their sound and do a great job at energizing the crowd. They have like a modern Metallica vibe but are, in no way imitating. They are truly developing their own signature sound that has been pleasing Northern California fans for some time now. Check out the photos by our Rockin Ryan of their set: Fittingly, they of course, they played a great cover of Motorhead’s Ace of Spades that had the crowd fired up! Make sure to visit their social media [Read More]

The seven member supergroup, Isles & Glaciers are premiering The Hearts of Lonely People (Remixes) which features completely revamped version of their debut album. Polar releases new music video for Bloodlines

November 10, 2014

Post hardcore band Polar have released their music video for Bloodlines. “‘Bloodlines’ really means a lot to me,” proclaims vocalist Adam “Woody” Woodford. “Lyrically, it comes from a hard time for me and my family. I won’t name names, but it turns out that one of the family members was stealing from another and then they became very hostile towards my side of the family and that’s where the line ‘living with a death wish’ comes from. On a more positive note, it’s one of my favourite tunes to play live, so come down and party with us on the BWP tour in December – we can’t wait!” Check out the video here:  The song is off their North American debut album, Shadowed By Vultures. Polar are currently out on tour in Europe with Close Your Eyes. Check the dates below and see if you are able to make it out to one of their shows. UPCOMING TOUR DATES  11/10  Prague, CZ – Chapeau Rouge* 11/11  Wroclaw, PL – Ciemna Strona Miasta* 11/12  Dessau, DE – [Read More]

Aftershock Festival

Otherwise return to Sacramento for a crowd pleasing set!

November 10, 2014

One of our highlights from this year’s Monster Aftershock Festival has returned to Sacramento! Otherwise made a stop last week to perform at Ace of Spades. The crowd was packed as Otherwise and Buckcherry were in town and guaranteed a night full of energetic rock! That is exactly what we got. Otherwise was amazing and the crowd went wild. It was so awesome to see so many fans singing along to the songs, both old and new. They of course played my favorite song, Darker Side of the Moon and it definitely was a crowd favorite as well. Check out the photos by our Rockin Ryan of their set:   Otherwise have been extensively touring this year in support of their highly well received album, Peace At All Costs. The album has been solidly on our daily playlist since it’s release, definitely proving it is a MUST HAVE! Otherwise continue to have tour dates added and make sure to see if they are coming to your town. Their music is not only energetic but is uplifting and [Read More]

Maggie Szabo ups her game at the Hotel Cafe by Patrick O’Heffernan

November 9, 2014

With her brilliant smile, athletic body  and mischievous eyes, the diminutive Maggie Szabo put on a show Friday night at LA’s premier showcase club this Friday that topped even her high-energy performance  record.  Nobody sat still as she rocked  through  11 songs – mostly new material including the new, soon-to-be-a-hit “Paralyze”,  along with favorites like “Sweetest  Heartache” and the solid pop-anthem, “Slow Fire”. Having seen her live four times,  I  could tell that there has been both a creative burst and a lot of hard work in her career since I started following her about a year ago. New songs  blended smoothly with her audience’s established favorites, making the evening  seem like a  party  with old  friends;  there were no dissonant  notes, no “where is Maggie going?”, questions.  It  just all worked.  Even when she took to the old  upright piano in far stage left and shifted mood for “Touch the Ground” and “Take Your Time”,  she was  on  target both as a singer and as  a performer. Plus she gave a preview of [Read More]
