John Mayall brings cool blues to The Rose. By Patrick O’Heffernan

November 21, 2016

(Pasadena) Going to a John Mayall concert is like going to church – not to a religious ceremony, unless blues is your religion —  but being inside a cathedral experiencing something divine. With  61 albums and over a half century of music behind him, British bluesman John Mayall’s current USA tour is cool, reflective, gentle on the mind and the ears and absolutely divine. At 83 it is no surprise that Mayall’s energy level is far more relaxed than it was in the days when Eric Clapton and John McVie blasted out hot blues with him on English stages. But, as anyone who has followed Mayall for the past half century knows, hot or cool, he loves the blues and  that love was on full display Friday night at Pasadena’s The Rose music venue.   Standing in the spotlight on the stage, Mayall and drummer Jay Davenport and bassist Greg Rzab pulled the audience in close with a warm smile and old familiars.  Mayall started the concert easy, conserving his energy for the 12-song [Read More]

The Soundtrack features new singles from The Struts and Birdy, as well as standout hits from notable artists like Phantogram, Miike Snow, The 1975, Santigold, and more. The Avett Brothers release new video for “No Hard Feelings” and announce Spring Tour Dates

November 19, 2016

The Avett Brothers’ new album,  True Sadness [American Recordings/Republic Records], has not only been receiving high praises but has also been dominating the charts. They have just released a video for their track, No Hard Feelings. Seth had this to say about the video, “The video for No Hard Feelings is in some ways meant to be a counter balance to the rapid fire nature of the ‘Ain’t No Man’ video. Whereas the first shows an aspect of our lives which is in constant motion, the  second is a retro/introspective moment of calm. They both are comments on the present moment, but one is kinetic and the other is static.” Check out the video here: You can pick up the new album by heading over to: iTunes: http://republicrec.co/AvettTrueSadnessApple: http://republicrec.co/AvettTrueSadnessAM  They have also announced several upcoming Spring tour dates: 3/10 – Richmond, VA – The National3/11 – Richmond, VA – The National3/12 – Charleston, WV – Charleston Municipal Auditorium3/30 – New Orleans, LA – Saenger Theatre3/31 – Sugar Land, TX – Smart Financial Centre4/1 – New Braunfels, TX – Whitewater Amphitheatre w/St. Paul & The Broken Bones Make sure to visit [Read More]
