Yours Truly unveil new single/video “Lights On”

March 15, 2022

Australian alternative bright lights Yours Truly have unveiled their new single and music video ‘Lights On’ today, alongside the reveal of their rescheduled Australian headline tour. At just shy of three minutes long, ‘Lights On’ is fiery and to-the-point, while sticking around long enough to firmly cement itself in the listener’s head. Yours Truly vocalist Mikaila Delgado shares more on how the track was born: ‘Lights On’ is about challenging the way you view yourself and how much that is influenced by other people. I find it interesting when someone says “You’re not who I expected you to be” and when you sit with that for a while you start to think “what do I look like to others? Who am I to myself?” I figured out during this pandemic that being alone with your thoughts is where you truly begin to unpack who you are to your core”, she explains. “I discovered that a [Read More]

Deaf Havana release brand new song/video “Kids”

March 11, 2022

Hot on the heels of a triumphant return to the stage at a sold-out intimate show at Lafayette in London, Deaf Havana have released their new single, “Kids”. The reflective track hears the duo contemplate their youth, and James Veck-Gilodi has explained, “’Kids’, like many songs of ours, is a retrospective romance with our younger years. It views growing up in boring coastal towns through rose tinted glasses and asks a lot of questions as to what the people we grew up with are doing now. It’s mainly a nostalgic song about small English towns, about what could’ve been and what is”. The single arrives alongside the official music video, which was shot by Jon Stone in Brighton. It sees a young couple skateboard around the seaside town, whilst Deaf Havana perform the song in a separate snug location. It complements the sentiment of the song and perfectly portrays the romance of youth. Deaf Havana have been invited to support Don Broco at London’s historic Royal Albert Hall later this month. They will play a [Read More]

Mint Green announce debut album and share new single “Trying”

March 10, 2022

Keep your eyes out for Boston’s next national indie-rock export: Mint Green. Today the band announced that their debut album, “All Girls Go To Heaven”, is coming out June 3 from Pure Noise Records, and they’ve also shared a video for one of its highlights, “Trying”. Complete with a video directed by Haoyan of America, it’s a song that juxtaposes internal desire with harsh reality, as vocalist Ronnica explains: “This song explores the narrative of someone who is holding on to what is left of their failed relationship while the other person has already seemingly moved on. Its tone is upbeat and bouncy in the verses. The lyrics pair the mundane with the fantastic. They are both giddy and frivolous. Determined, yet futile.” Like a lot of “All Girls Go To Heaven”, “Trying” pairs opposing feelings; here, its poppy and playful verses meet with somber choruses shrouded in sadness, and elsewhere it’s almost like a choir or gospel with swirling vocal harmonies and repetitive, trance-like guitars. This approach blends each members unique talents: Ronnica’s bright [Read More]
