We all know about how successful Motley Crue’s residency shows at Hard Rock Hotel in Las Vegas were earlier this year. They had performed 12 incredible shows and we all were waiting for them to return. Well, it has just been announced that the Hard Rock Hotel will be housing another incredible 80’s Rock band for a residency later this year. Guns n Roses announced on their website yesterday that they will be taking up residency at the Hard Rock Hotel in Las Vegas with shows starting on Halloween (Oct. 31st) and conclude November 24th. Their residency is aptly titled “Appetite for Democracy”.
I know how so many people have been waiting and waiting for a return of the original lineup but as we all know; you have better chances of winning the lottery! I know many fans have stated how they wouldn’t go see GnR unless it was an original lineup and I don’t feel that way. Guns N Roses was a big part of my growing up. Their music was my therapy during my teen years and then was my party music in my 20s. I never did get to see them live which I regret since I had several opportunities and always dismissed them with “I will catch them next time”. Then the lineups changed and there was never really a next time! Also, the current line-up is worth seeing as well with DJ Ashba (guitar), Dizzy Reed (keyboards), Tommy Stinson (bass), Richard Fortus (guitar), Ron “Bumblefoot” Thal (guitar), Chris Pitman (keyboards) and Frank Ferrer (drums). I support all the original Guns n Roses members and have seen Steven Adler with his band; Adler’s Appetite and hope to see his new band; Adler. I am going to see Slash with Myles Kennedy later this year at the Fox Theatre in Oakland and when Duff McKagan’s band; Loaded or Izzy Stradlin’s solo work comes around I will be there too.
I will definitely be going to Vegas in November to catch a show or maybe a couple. My son Ryan loves old GnR and new GnR so it will be a great time. Just for the chance to possibly hear “November Rain” live is enough of an invitation for me. That song is so dear to my heart since I played it over and over after losing my little daughter Julia at birth on a cold November rainy day. Check out the video for my favorite song: “November Rain” which unfortunately you have to sit through a few seconds of advertisement but in my mind is worth it!
