Indulge your senses with Figs Vision and their new music!

Figs Vision

It is time to open your eyes and ears and introduce all your senses to Figs Vision, musical collaboration by Gunner Sixx, son of Nikki Sixx of Motley Crue and Jordan Spoliansky. Together these long time friends are creating new music that will reach inside and touch your soul and have you dancing around; all at the same time. Although they have been working together for some time, they were recently introduced to the world via Nikki Sixx’s Facebook and Twitter posting only days ago:

“I love music. As you know I am always looking for new music not only for my ears, but also for other people’s as well. I have been very open about creativity and supporting music over the years in my books and blogs. As a father you hope to pass this on to your kids. So with that being said my oldest son Gunner and his songwriting partner Jordan Spoliansky been collaborating on new music together and I want to pass it on to you. If you like what you hear go check out their Facebook page and follow them on twitter because I know they are gonna be releasing new music often. They are gearing up for their first EP so this is all creativity in progress. I shot the photos of them to go with the music…. Enjoy,Nikki….’

Nice intro via Nikki but what is even more incredible is that these two can stand on their own with the exceptional quality of their alternative fused dance music.  They are currently working on their debut EP titled “Darling” which is being recording in Van Nuys.  We had a chance to get a quick interview with Gunner and Jordan and want to share it with you.

Music Junkie Press: How did Figs Vision come out and how did the name come about?

Gunner: Figs Vision came about through a long friendship formed on and inspired by all types of music.  Eventually we decided we wanted to share the music we’d been making. We named the band after a very dear friend to us, Old Fig. Fig has these visions, these inexplicable visions of unparalleled complexity and beauty. He’d rather not be known by the public but has allowed us to name our project after him.

Music Junkie Press:  Your music reminds me of what the youth of today is missing! The ’90s were an awesome time and I think your music wraps up the best of all those times for everyone to share!  If you could describe Figs Vision to the world, what would it be?

Gunner:  We love the 90’s too.  To us, the music is meant to express raw connection and vulnerability.

Jordan:  I’ve always been inspired by belief in one’s self, I want fV to communicate that no matter who you are you should love and enjoy yourself. I think it’s about unity through beautiful imperfection.

Music Junkie Press:  We here at Music Junkie Press are strong believers about how Music has changed each of our lives and have saved us in certain instances, can you share with us an personal story where “music” healed you or helped you?

Gunner: I think that’s a great question, it touches on what we mean by raw connection and vulnerability.  It’s interesting when you’re sitting there singing or making music, its like sometimes I learn things about myself that I didn’t even know.  Deep feelings and thoughts make their way out of my psyche.

Jordan: Yeah, it’s like therapy… for free.

Music Junkie Press:  New York Home is such a great song that just gets into soul and draws out emotion. Really beautiful! Tell us about “New York Home” and how that song came about and who wrote that?

Jordan: I actually wrote that song for someone I was very in love with. I took all of the fear that comes with love and tried to explain it with the music, almost impossible to do. I recorded the original version a few years ago and we decided to use it for fV.

Gunner:  I was really excited when Jordan brought that one to the table and it was an interesting process re-working such an intimate piece.

Music Junkie Press:  If you could each talk to your 14 year old self, what would be your advice to them be?

Gunner:  I think my advice would have been to keep believing in myself.  I had a few “drunk years” where I got frustrated with music.  Having fallen back in love with it has been such great thing for me.

Jordan: A lot of stuff that my 14 year old self would have ignored.

Gunner: True.

Music Junkie Press: That is so true Jordan. What does Figs Vision have in store for us in 2013?

Gunner: We’ve got more songs than we know what to do with.  Getting as much of those out there as possible is something we’re both excited about.

Jordan: Also lots of shows… Which means dancing.

Music Junkie Press:  Well, we will be all waiting for the shows and get ready for some dancing! What song from any genre could Figs Vision take and make it their own, which would it be and why?

Figs Vision: Q Lazzarus  “Goodbye Horses” because we love her emotion and the songs instrumentation.

Figs Vision: Right now we have it up on Figsvision.Bandcamp.com for download and you can stream it on YouTube or Soundcloud.com. Soon we’ll be dropping our debut EP “Darling” and putting it up on iTunes as well.

Jordan: I am an excellent rollerblader, I sleep with my head under the pillow and I sweat milk.
