Our Spotlight Band is CREEPER and check out their new video!

Optimized-Creeper New Line Up Dec2015

For our spotlight band I would like to feature goth punks CREEPER as they are set to release their new EP The Stranger on February 19th. They were recently added to Radio 1’s In New Music We Trust List yesterday, they build towards its release by unveiling the video for ‘Black Mass’. Vocalist Will Gould comments about the video:

“The concept behind the video is a dream that our EP’s cover character named Madeline is experiencing. She’s in the middle of an episode of sleep psychosis with the band performing to her in her dream. She awakes to find herself in her bedroom.

The song’s lyrics are written from the perspective of the character of The Stranger, the heartbroken monster who is the EP’s namesake. They’re partly inspired by recounts of sleep paralysis, where sufferers describe seeing a ‘black matter’ or ‘black mass’ haunting them in their rooms at night, while they lie paralysed in bed.”

Check out their video for their bad ass new track,  Black Mass:

I love the fresh new sound that CREEPER brings out but at the same time bleeds a nostalgic tone of doo wop punk. Their music is infectious and energetic and as soon as you listen, you will be hooked in and ready for the wild ride.

Produced by Neil Kennedy at TheRanch, ‘Black Mass’ captures CREEPER’s inherent sense of energy while also evoking the dramatic spirits of Meat Loaf and Jim Steinman.

‘The Stranger’ EP immediately establishes a theatrical air of foreboding with the mood-setting opener ‘The Secret Society’ before the band’s love of TheMisfits, AlkalineTrio and TheDamned is very much in evidence throughout the pop-punk attack of ‘Valentine’. The EP’s closing two tracks really highlight  the band’s growing maturity and versatility: ‘Misery’ Is stripped back to a soul-baring vocal/guitar duet before exploding into its climactic finale, and the mid-section of ‘Astral Projection’ focuses on  Gould’s impassioned delivery before a final race to the finish line.

‘The Stranger’ EP will be available in the US via digital download and can now be pre-ordered from iTunes (http://po.st/StrangeriTunes).

Having recently added  guitarist Oliver Burdett and keyboardist HannahGreenwood to the CREEPER ranks, the band’s new line-up will debut at the Birmingham O2 Institute on February1stwhere CREEPER play as guests to NeckDeep.

CREEPER is:

  • Dan Bratton – Drums
  • Oliver Burdett – Guitar
