Michigan based Vesta Collide is a metal/hard rock band that is truly deserving of your attention. They have just released a video for their song, Outreach (The End) and it is bad ass all the way. They have a great sound that reminds me of the early young days of Asking Alexandria. These guys In no way imitate since they have fused together with their fresh new heavy melodic style.
Vesta Collide is:
- Mark Pfromm – Vocals
- Jacob Matzkows – Guitar/Vocals
- Alex Kuzmanovic – Guitar
- Alex Honeycutt* – Bass
- Nick Matzkows – Drums
We had the chance to chat with them and are pleased to bring that interview to you here:
Music Junkie Press: Thank you very much for taking the time out to talk with us here at Music Junkie Press. We had the chance to check out the first song, Outreach (The End) and you blew us away with that track. It is a very inspiring song, can you tell us more about your inspiration behind it?
Vesta Collide: Being our debut song as a band, we really wanted to deliver a positive message. It’s simply about learning from your past and changing for the better. We wanted every person who hears our song to know that it’s okay to change your life if you’re not happy with it. Every individual holds the power to their own decision making and with that said, no one has to settle for anything. So much of the world is spreading a negative message and we wanted to put something out there that gave some ounce of hope to our listeners who feel like nothing will ever get better.
Music Junkie Press: Can you tell us about how Vesta Collide formed?
Vesta Collide: Vesta Collide was formed through the collapse of previous efforts.
Music Junkie Press: We understand you are working on your new album. What stage are you in and when do you think we can expect a release?
Vesta Collide: Now, I’m not going to say exactly when fans can expect the full album release, because we don’t want to say one thing and have it not end up that way, haha. But I will say fans can expect to hear some new songs within the next couple months.
Music Junkie Press: Your music delivers a straight up intensity that I love, and you have emotionally driven lyrics. Do you have a particular song writing process?
Vesta Collide: We tend to start off writing drum parts, keyboard melodies and discussing the layout to our songs, then we add in guitars to bring the song to life. Lyrically the songs are written and inspired by the overall feel of the song, life experiences, outlandish themes and writing from the view of the outcast.
Music Junkie Press: What bands are some of your most inspiring when it it comes to making your music?
Vesta Collide: Paramore, The Used, Underoath and Fall Out Boy are some of which their creative direction is something we all admire. They all have something unique about them.
Music Junkie Press: If we could peak into your Ipod, what artist or song might we be most surprised at finding in there?
Vesta Collide: We like diversity, so you could literally find anything. Whether it be radio pop, indie, electronic, rap or metal. Going through it you’ll find artists like Say Anything, Katy Perry, Childish Gambino, Slipknot and even video game soundtracks.
Music Junkie Press: What was the first concert you ever went to?
Vesta Collide: This is a tough one to remember. We never really went to shows growing up.
Alex Honeycutt – “Ozzfest (2007)”
Mark – “In 2007 a friend of mine at the time had a local band and brought me along.”
Jake and Nick – “Jamboree (2010)”
Alex Kuzmanovic – “Three Days Grace, Breaking Benjamin (2006)”
Music Junkie Press: If you could collaborate with any artist of today on a song or feature them, who would it be and why?
Vesta Collide: We can’t really come to a unanimous decision on who, but we think it’d be pretty cool to have a female guest spot. Maybe Hayley Williams of Paramore!
Music Junkie Press: If you had to tell us three things that you would want everyone to know about Vesta Collide, what would they be?
Vesta Collide: We’re in the process of writing our first record and are recording with producer Joey Sturgis. We have our first single and music video out for “Outreach (The End)” and everything from merch to social networking can be found on our official website. But most importantly, this is just the start and we are extremely thankful for everyone who is already supporting us or even giving us a moment of their time and we hope everyone will stick around, because we have a lot planned.
Music Junkie Press: We are excited for the new music and look forward to seeing you out on the road. If you could put together a dream lineup for a tour, what three other bands would you like on the bill?
Vesta Collide: I don’t know, probably something weird like Fall Out Boy, Slipknot, Blink 182 and then we’d put a stand-up comedian in-between change overs and it’d be Dave Chappelle.
Music Junkie Press: Lastly, is there anything you would like to share with our audience?
Vesta Collide: Stay tuned for you’ll be hearing A LOT more from us in due time!

This is definitely a band you will be hearing a lot from. Check out the new song, Outreach (The End) here:
The video was shot in Detroit, Michigan and Los Angeles, California by Director Sam Link. Vocalist, Mark Pfromm explains more about the song, “In our debut single and music video, we specifically wanted to carry a positive theme. It’s closing the doors of non-fulfillment and mentally being reborn in times where we’re drowning in pessimism and antipathy. Putting an end to the monotonous cycle of letting our lives transpire without action, not settling. Outreach is pursuing everything you’ve ever wanted, coming clean with yourself and making a definite change, regardless of what anyone else thinks. It doesn’t matter. You drown out the voices because the only thing that matters is what you believe. Time is our only limitation and we can’t let that pass us by. We want each person who listens to our song to know that they have the power to cut ties from all the negativity and adversity that has been placed upon them. It’s the start of a new place in our lives and a confident transition with leaving the past in the past. Letting the future unfold in a way that leaves you completely blissful and free“
