Blue October returned to the Ace of Spades in Sacramento for an unforgettable night of music out on the Fear Tour. The night began with a very special treat of a set by Harvard of the South which features Steve Schiltz and is a side project of Blue October’s Matt Noveskey, Jeremy and Justin Furstenfeld. Their high energy set got the crowd fueled and ready to rock. Their song, Miracle is absolutely gripping and will have you immediately hooked. They recently released their new EP, Miracle and we look forward to what the future may bring for Harvard of the South, hopefully a lot more shows!
Next up is one of our favorite vocalists, Ashleigh Stone. Ashleigh is truly amazing and her angelic vocals will captivate you as she delivers a shot of emotion that hits you right in the heart. Ashleigh is one of the first artists that Justin signed to his record label, UpDown Records and her new full length album, Elements is currently available at all the shows. Her music will whisk you away from all your worries and become the softness and comfort of a reassuring hug.
The crowd were all excited for Blue October to take the stage and I might add, they have an eye catching stage setup with a kaleidoscope of colors that bring to life the range of emotions from each and every song. Their lighting was on point and quite impressive which rounded out the alluring set. The band took to the stage and the crowd erupted in cheer as their excitement could no longer be contained. That energy was non stop the entire night, both from the band and the audience.
Blue October delivered a flawless set that was filled with intense emotion and jubilation that raced from the stage through each and every audience member. Blue October has this magical element to them, that when you enter their concert and the music takes over, you immediately lose all your worries, troubles, or challenges. Each and every one of your senses are awakened and filled with hope, clarity and well-being. Justin is in such a great place and he is so inspiring to the crowd. The band sounded tight as ever and they were all absolutely spectacular. You could feel the warmth of everyone’s hearts as despair, doubts, and fears were washed away.
Another highlight of the night was watching the diversity of the crowd, there were little kids on the shoulders of their parent’s singing to all the songs and then there were seasoned fans dancing like crazy when Italian Radio came on. There is no cookie cutter Blue October fan as their music extends across genres, generations and cultures.
I can’t express enough how amazing the concert was. But also, we have to talk about the dedicated fans of Blue October. They are truly a family and the community that I witnessed in that venue has yet to be rivaled. People were sharing stories of which were their favorite songs and what the music of Blue October has done for them. They all have these incredible stories and it is so surreal to see how the music of Blue October brought them all together. Everyone left that venue as friends and with renewed outlook on life.
That is what is so magical about Blue October, their songs contain some of the most soul touching, energy charging, heartfelt, inspirational, rockin, personal music out today. Their music has been the soundscape for so many lives and have helped carried many through their hardest times, been there for times of celebration, a release for frustration and pent up emotions or just to simply provide melodies and harmonies in perfect song.
