Mick Richard Morris
March 9, 1978 – June 3, 2013
We just got the shocking news of the passing of Mick Morris at the young age of 35 in his sleep last night. Mick has also been known as Mick Deth on his social media sites. I am just in shock, just a few weeks ago Mick had been in the hospital in Utah due to blood clots. At that time he had found out about a blood disorder and a hole in his heart that he had since birth. He had been in and out of the hospital for the past month or so.
Mick was born in Salt Lake City on March 9, 1978. Mick started his love for music at a young age and he often talked about how watching Metallica was the great push for him to follow his love for music. Mick demonstrated his love for a variety of genres of music as he listened and played music from classic rock, punk, hard core, 80’s metal, thrash and so much more. He just loved music in general. His first band was a Straight Edge hardcore band; Clear from Salt Lake City. After getting to know Eighteen Visions when they toured together with Clear, he moved to California and went on to play bass for Eighteen Visions. That is when I got to know Mick and his awesome bass playing and incredible personality!
After Eighteen Visions grew to great success, a word tour and signing to the major label Epic Records, in 2007 Mick announced the end of Eighteen Visions. In addition he played with other bands like Elsewhere, Die Die My Darling, and Bleeding Through. Mick also had a great style that he incorporated into his Dethless Clothing line.
Mick had a son with Ashley-Jade Thewlis and was a proud father to little Jude, who he would share photos of and just talk about how lucky he was to have such a great son. It was no secret that Mick (who was named after Mick Jagger) loved the Beatles and named his son after their song, “Hey Jude”. One thing everyone could say about Mick had a big heart, he loved his fans, his music, his family. He would often post great words of wisdom that would have you sit back and think. Some of my favorites:
“You know my name, not my story. You’ve heard what I’ve done, not what I’ve been through.”
“True friends stick with you even when they know everything about you”
“There is nothing better than being a father.”
I can remember how sad he was when he learned of the passing of his friend Mitch Lucker last year and how he almost became part of the SS band. I remember how eerie the photo was that Mitch Lucker last posted on his Twitter/Instagram…. Well here is a post from 1 day ago on Mick’s Instagram feed that just brings back that eerie and unsettling feeling:
I really am in a bit of shock with this one and will write more as we get news in but today I am going to pull out my Eighteen Visions CDs, crank them up loud and celebrate the great Mick Morris. You had a big heart Mick and put a smile on everyone you came in contact with, made people laugh, made them smile, you will be remembered. Our condolences to his family and friends. There was some reports of a memorial and possible tribute benefit for Jude and we will keep you posted with the latest details.
Here is a tribute video for Mick with two of my favorite Eighteen Visions songs and Hey Jude.
~ Peace, Marisol

I am sorry if i offended you or his memory. Ididn’t mean it in any disrespect. I bought some 18V stuff from him a while back. what i meant to say is that over the last few months, he seemed to be in a different place. Please don’t take offense to anything I said. never meant any disprespect in any way, i swear. he was such a nice guy and i know he had a family and i am sorry for them as well. i lost my mom last year and she was posting a lot about her old friends and best of times, etc. she died shortly after from a heart attack, no warning but when i looked back at her stuff, it was like a good bye. i am very sorry if I upset you. please know i didn’t mean it in any negative way. sorry for your loss. I was following his story from the hospital, etc. very sorry to upset you.
another thing. keep my nepheqs name out of your mouth
My goodness this person apologized and said no offense was intended. That is what is wrong with this world everybody takes everything to the extreme. It’s a very sad situation it is awful when anybody dies at a you g age. But that apology was very sincere and you could have got your point across without having to call somebody an idiot. I think that is also a terrible way to remember somebody by attacking other people over comments that was misunderstood.
that video has me crying. he was awesome in 18Visions! How dare they want a reunion without him. Maybe it was a broken heart!!!! He loved so deeply, his son was his best thing he used to say.
Dude, you were one stand up guy who told everyone the truth no matter if they wanted to hear it or not. I appreciate that in more ways than you would know. actually you probably know now. You were so honest with me and changed my life for it. I am sorry to hear about this. God Bless your son Jude and your family
if you knew mick you would know he always posts stuff like that. NOTHING TO DO WITH HIS DEATH!
