BottleRock Napa 2023 highlight goes to Great Northern

June 19, 2023

Last year I was so excited to catch Great Northern play at BottleRock Napa. It was a return to the stage that I was so excited to witness. Great Northern was formed in 2005 by founding partners Rachel Stolte and Solon Bixler and last year they returned to the scene and I was ecstatic.  Fast forward to BottleRock Napa 2023 and I am in awe to see that they are on the lineup for 23! As we wind down our BottleRock coverage, we look back at my final highlight Great Northern. It was amazing! They put on quite a show and played mostly new songs that were incredible!! Below is there song Animl which they released in May.   They had such a powerful sound and when you see them live, it is unrivaled.  Check out some photos of their set by our Rockin Ryan:   You can watch a video from their BottleRock set: They are currently working on new music and we are in high anticipation for this next album. I am also hopeful [Read More]

Phantogram which is comprised of lifelong friends Josh Carter and Sarah Barthel came to BottleRock and delivered an amazing set. They might be categorized as alternative but their music defies all genres. They have hard hitting beats, psych groove guitars and mesmerizing vocals.  Check out some photos of their set by our Rockin Ryan: You can catch the out on tour with Queens of the Stone Age, starting in August.  Ahead of that they will be in Los Angeles for the grand opening of The Bellwether on July 11th and in Grand Rapids on August 2nd. June 16, 2023

Another great band that never disappoints is The Airborne Toxic Event. They brought their powerful sound to the Verizon Stage.  Check out photos of their set by our Rockin Ryan:   More about The Airborne Toxic Event: “When the grandstand of Inglewood’s Hollywood Park racetrack was demolished in May 2015, Mikel Jollett’s sense of family and of self came crashing down with it. Jollett, the frontman of Airborne Toxic Event, watched on local TV as the run-down track where he’d spent so many formative times with his father crumbled in seconds, in what was called a “controlled implosion.” Jollett’s father had died just days before the track where he’d spent every weekend was torn down, and Jollett was left reeling, bereft and baffled by his pain and loss. He spent the next five years memorializing his father’s life and death and his own troubled upbringing in the metaphorical dust of the racetrack. The results are Hollywood Park, Airborne Toxic Event’s sixth studio album—the band’s first in five years and first on Rounder Records—and Jollett’s [Read More]

Ayleen Valentine at BottleRock Napa 2023

June 15, 2023

Ayleen Valentine gave a fiercely emotionally raw set at BottleRock Napa on the Jam Cellars Stage. Info: Growing up in Miami, FL, Ayleen always had a passion for songwriting and art. She dreamed of working with artists like James Blake, loved the rawness of rappers like XXXTentacion, and respected Grimes for her ability to self-produce. The 21-year-old Valentine recently dropped out of Berklee College of Music, where she had a full ride for music production, to move to LA and devote herself entirely to music. Drawing upon her Argentinian and Peruvian background, Ayleen incorporates a fresh, distinct perspective in her songwriting mixed with her solid production style. She recently released her debut EP entitled, tonight i don’t exist, featuring hits like “why do i do that” and “next life” with plans of new music in the near future. Check out the photos of her set by our Rockin Ryan:   You can watch a video of her performing at BottleRock here: Make sure to visit the social media sites and stay up to date on the [Read More]
