Ani DiFranco mesmerizes Napa with her passionate and heartfelt set

March 9, 2014

It was a magical night at the Uptown Theater in Napa, California yesterday. It was a night filled with love, hope, inspiration and sweet beautiful music. Ani DiFranco, the amazingly talented singer/songwriter/poet was in the house to perform her final show of her tour. First, I must share that the ambiance that the Uptown Theater creates was the perfect backdrop for this stellar performance. The Uptown Theater has a very strict photo policy which you don’t really appreciate until you experience it firsthand. Going to about 15 concerts a month, I tend to spend so much time bobbing my head side to side in hopes of capturing the performer in my line of site, but instead I am greeted by cell phones and cameras in the air.  Without the distractions of these, you can’t help but bathe in the beauty of the artist and become one with the moment. Last night was that perfect night. Her impressive opener, Jenny Scheinman woed the crowd with her touching and sometimes jovial folk songs. The crowd was purely [Read More]

Fire The Animal delivers a great set at the Troubadour for the Lara Gladstsone Gutter n Grind!

March 6, 2014

We had the opportunity to catch Los Angeles band, Fire The Animal as they performed at Lara Gladstone’s Gutter n Grind event at the Troubadour.  I love catching shows at the Troubadour because the musical history of the venue’s past seems to create an energy that you can’t ignore. Fire The Animal added to that energy with their charismatic set filled with an updated twist of classic rock. It was an awesome night as you can see by the footage and photos of Fire The Animal in the following tribute video made by Rockin Ryan.   The song in the video is “Do Me Like You Do” and it is one of my personal faves. The song is off of their EP, Quadrihead and you can pick it up here. While you are at it, make sure to pick up some of their cool band merchandise from their page here. Make sure to visit their social media sites so you can stay up to date on their latest news. Check out the slide show also [Read More]

DECODED release music video for Red Handed

March 6, 2014

Last year we told you about the new album by Decoded and how much we loved it. You can read that post here.  I hope you all got your copy of it and have it on your regular playlists. Decoded has just released their music video for their catchy song, Red Handed. You can check it out here:   As we mentioned before, Decoded has been through  well over a dozen member changes since their 2012 start but through it all frontman Derek Jordan and drummer Heather Miller weathered the changes and came out on top. Today Decoded is Derek Jordan, Heather Miller, Ian McCulloch and Amy Clark. Topanga was recorded at The Fortress and Kingsize Soundlabs and mixed and mastered by David Rieley.  You can head over to decoded‘s Facebook page or their bandcamp page and download it now. You can also order the physical CD which I think is the best way to go and it includes the immediate download of the album.  It is also available on Itunes here. Topanga  is a must have album and Derek’s voice is not only powerful as you are held [Read More]
