Caliban, Lionheart and Bad Omens live

Backstage Munich, Dec. 6th, 2018   Thursday night, 6.30 pm was the announced time for doors to open. Not too many people were queuing outside the Backstage Werk in Munich. For one, it was probably still early for those still at work and second, the opening band of the night, Bad Omens, are not that well known around here so far. Show start was an hour later. The venue was still more than half empty, the fate of many opening bands. With Caliban and Lionheart there were two experienced bands on stage, that drew most of the people to this show. Bad Omens didn’t necessarily fit the bill, which made it hard for them to make a real connection with the audience. Songs like ‘Glass Houses’, ‘Careful What You Wish For’ and ‘Exit Wounds’ do have potential and there were people in the crowd that knew the band and sang along, but that night it wasn’t enough to really ‘heat up’ the audience. Our Last Night with Hands Like Houses, Hawthorne Heights and Jule Vera in Munich at the Backstage

On November 5th I had the pleasure to join yet another Our Last Night show. As usual great parts of the audience were quite young, but don’t get me wrong, there were also lots of guys in the audience. While the show started out with a quieter act, Jule Vera, it got more and more energetic through the sets of Hawthorne Heigts and Hands Like Houses. A perfect preparation for a killer set of Our Last Night. With four acts on the list, the show started earlier than usual at 9.15 pm. Different from most shows, the venue was already packed, when Jule Vera opened their set. Not what one would expect as an opener for Our Last Night, since they do play way heavier stuff, while Jule Vera mainly played quieter songs. Hawthorne Heights just finished a headliner tour through the UK and are right now touring the US & Canada with Silverstein. They are around for about 17 years now.   Oktober 24th I was out on an all Swedish Metal Night in Munich at the Backstage. The Unguided were out on their Tour Royale and brought along some friends from home. Though the venue was not sold out, the atmosphere that night was really great. The Gravity tour brings Bullet For My Valentine to Munich. Contributed by Alex Bock

Bullet For My Valentine announced their European tour dates over six months ago. In between there was the release of their most recent record ‘Gravity’ on June 29th, two US tours and several festival appearances. Fast forward to October 28th, Bullet For My Valentine are finally back in Munich. This time in a much bigger venue with a capacity of a little less than 6000 people. That’s a big step up from a venue with 2000 people max. But then, Munich doesn’t have anything in between, though a place that size would definitely make sense. There were four bands on the set-list for that night. General information was, that the show started at 7.30 pm (as was shown on the tickets), but for whatever reason someone decided to start earlier, a fact that was shared on facebook about five hours before show start. Lord Of The Lost – ‚Thornstar Tour’ makes a stop in Munich on October 19th at the Backstage Halle

Lord Of The Lost are regular guests in our beautiful Bavarian capital, where their singer Chris Harms spent some of his youth. For a while now, the band has two different tour packages – a quiet orchestra-like version with additional strings and a louder one. On August 3rd the band released their latest record ‘Thornstar’, which brought them out on a ‘louder’ tour this time. Special guest and support act was Scarlet Dorn. They just released their first album called ‘Lack Of Light’, which has been produced by Chris Harms and Benjamin Lawrenz. Scarlet Dorn had their first stage appearances on the 2017 tour of Lord Of The Lost. Due to fans’ demands, they took them out on the road again on this run. Other ties to Lord Of The Lost are their keyboarder Gared Dirge, who plays for both bands and members of Scarlet Dorn are also part of LOTL’s road crew. It’s one big family. Maggie Rogers; nostalgic vibe comes to life with mesmerizing vocals and captivating charisma

Last night the legendary Fillmore in San Francisco came to life with night two of Maggie Rogers.  The Fillmore venue has a rich history of iconic female performers such as Janis Joplin, Grace Slick,  Carol King, Aretha Franklin and many more. Maggie’s performance last night was another one of those extraordinary performances by a female performer at the venue, that many will continued to talk about. Opening for Maggie Rogers was the charismatic 19 year old Australian performer, Mallrat. You can check more about her here. The venue was filled to capacity as the crowd awaited the arrival of Maggie to the stage. The excitement grew as the stage intro track of Abba’s Dancing Queen came on the speakers. The entire venue erupted in song and the energy was infectious.  Maggie took the stage and the crowd went wild.
