Kiefer Sutherland brings his music to life with his crowd pleasing performance at Mystic Theatre

April 23, 2018

Sunday night at the historical Mystic Theatre was definitely the place to be. Kiefer Sutherland brought his Reckless 2018 Tour to town and proved the stage is exactly where he should be. The  night kicked off with an impressive set by singer/songwriter Rick Brantley. Rick served up some fun energetic tracks to get the crowd revved up. In addition, he treated us to some emotionally stirring tracks that capture such raw emotion and vulnerability. His poignant song “Hurt People” was a highlight for us. The crowd was ready for more great music and they errupted in cheer as Kiefer Sutherland Band took the stage. The lights dimmed and the energy rose. Kiefer immediately captured the crowd’s attention as he brought his songs to life. His music shines with his passion and brings such a depth of honest emotion to the horizon. His charismatic charm mesmerizes you as his smooth vocals take you away on a musical journey. He is like a shot of great Whiskey, velvety smooth, yet with a rumble and grit that you [Read More]

Blake Morgan’s tour with Tracy Bonham ends in  Hollywood, but the beat goes on. By Patrick O’Heffernan

April 19, 2018

Patrick O’Heffernan   I could not think of a better pairing than Blake Morgan and Tracy Bonham.  That was evident last week at their final tour stop at Hollywood’s Hotel Café. The music was sublime, the stories were funny and the chemistry was perfect. It easy to see why the tour was sold out – twice.  So many Angelinos wanted tickets to see this New York combo that the original Second Stage on the Hotel Café was sold out so they were moved to a larger Main Stage venue which was then sold out. The minute Morgan hit the chords for “I Can Hear You Say” the audience knew it was on its way to musical heaven.  When Bonham joined Morgan on stage for “A Helping Hand” they knew they had arrived in musical heaven.  And it kept getting better as Blake moved from guitar to piano, giving the audience such favorites as “Haunt Me” and ‘My Love Is Waiting”. The diminutive Bonham took the stage as Morgan stepped down and wielded the violin, [Read More]

Trivium, Munich, Tonhalle – April 11, 2018 – with special guests Venom Prison and Power Trip

April 15, 2018

Florida-based band Trivium introduced a new video for the song ‘Endless Night’. It’s taken from their current record ‘The Sin And The Sentence’. Check it out:   The night started out slowly with the first band Venom Prison. Many people hadn’t shown up yet, which is always a hard way to start out a concert. With the second band Power Trip the audience became livelier.   When Trivium entered the stage, the place was packed. Not officially sold out, but pretty close to. They played a tight show of about 90 minutes, which is pretty rare these days, esp. in the hardcore/metalcore genre. Many of the new songs from ‘The Sin And The Sentence’ were on the set-list, but also tracks from their former records. Given that the crowd sang along to every song with the same intensity, it’s safe to say, that they love the new stuff as much as the older songs. The longer bands are in the business, the harder it probably gets to satisfy the fans. There are so many bands [Read More]

CONCERT REVIEW: Umphrey’s McGee blows @ LA’s Wiltern – Written by Jessica Klausing

April 10, 2018

Umphrey’s McGee entranced the Los Angeles’ Wiltern theater for two, high energy-packed sets. Amidst the hypnotic psychedelic light show and LED visuals, Umphrey’s McGee seamlessly weaves progressive rock, jazz, disco, funk, metal, and electronic genres into a cohesive dance mix. Each band member has a keen musical ear and an uncanny talent to communicate with each other on stage. If you’re not familiar with these technically adept musicians then you might be a bit overwhelmed. At any given minute, the band may take a blues ballad and feverishly drive into a tripped out psychedelic groove. Their classic hits are consistently being re-worked into a whole new sound. The die-hard UM fans or “Umphreaks” will proudly express how each show is a completely different mind-blowing experience. Umphrey’s is known for their extended complex instrumental jams and abruptly switching songs mid way only to be re-visited later on in the set. The opener, Organ Freeman heated up the night with some organ centered instrumental jams. Rob Humphreys (drums), Trevor Steer (organ, key bass), and [Read More]

Avatar with special guests Old Kerry McKee and Hellzapoppin’ Circus Sideshow in Munich at Technikum, April 1st, 2018

April 10, 2018

In January 2018 Swedish metal-band Avatar released their latest record ‘Avatar Country’.  They started their world tour in the US in early 2018 and started off in Europe in March. April 1st they made it back to Munich. Like so many dates on their current tour, the Munich show was sold out. It was the bands’ biggest headline-show in Germany. For fans of theatrics and freakshows, that show was to place to be on Easter Sunday. First act to hit the stage was Old Kerry McKee, probably the quietest act of the night, since he’s a one-man-act. Nevertheless his set was quite entertaining. Second on stage was Hellzapoppin’ Circus Sideshow, a travelling freak-show from Florida. Something you won’t see everyday at a metal-show. Freak-shows actually are hard to find around here. Check out the pics to get an idea of their performance. Avatar had the audiences’ attention from the first minute on. Johannes Eckerström has this ability to lead the people through the show, introducing almost every song with a short story. Avatar have a [Read More]

April 8, 2018

Fans braved the torrential rains of a Friday night in San Francisco to step back in time and witness an incredible performance by Night Ranger at the legendary Fillmore. The fans welcomed home Night Ranger with a packed venue and they were ready to rock. The stage was set and as the lights dimmed, the fans went wild as they took the stage. Night Ranger played all the fan favorites, a couple Damn Yankees hits, as well as my favorite new  song, Somehow, Someway off their latest album, Don’t Let Up which was released March 2017. It was a well rounded set that had everyone singing along and enjoying being “in the moment” at a concert. James Bay delivers unparalleled top notch stadium quality performance at the intimate Fillmore in San Francisco

March 28, 2018

James Bay put on an extraordinary performance tonight at the legendary Fillmore in San Francisco. It was a show that I had been waiting months for. The venue was filled to capacity for the sold out show, the second show of the tour. The night kicked off with a beautiful set from amazing singer/songwriter/guitarist David Ryan Harris. David brought to life the stories of his music, his smooth voice inviting the listener to take a musical journey. The crowd loved David’s set and they were anxious for James to begin. From the second he hit the stage, the crowd went wild. He started right off with a new song Wasted on Each Other followed by his new single Pink Lemonade. Both songs are off his highly anticipated second studio album, Electric Light, due out on May 18th. You can pre-order by heading over to here: https://jamesbay.lnk.to/ElectricLight.
