Although they have been working together for some time, they were recently introduced to the world via Nikki Sixx’s Facebook and Twitter posting only days ago: Nikki Sixx Facebook: “I love music. As you know I am always looking for new music not only for my ears, but also for other people’s as well. I have been very open about creativity and supporting music over the years in my books and blogs. As a father you hope to pass this on to your kids. Get to know Justin Emord of Love and a .38

March 5, 2013

I have been enjoying the new song “Just a Woman” by one of my favorite bands, Love and a .38. I know I have told you about them several times before (featured as one of our 12 Days of Rock Christmas) and I hope by now, you all have added their music to your playlists especially “Rock ‘n Lola” and “Lovely Lies”. These rockers are some of the hardest working guys in the business that are on a mission to deliver that much needed rock sound that we have all been missing and craving! They are not only working on their new album, but have been kicking ass performing shows in LA as well as heading out to SXSW later this week. Before they head out to their next show, we were able to catch up with their incredibly talented, high energy bassist Justin Emord. * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * Music Junkie Press: Thanks Justin for taking time out with us at Music Junkie Press. Get Ready…. Sunset Riot is coming to ROCK the USA

March 1, 2013

Rocklahoma 2013 Band Feature The next band I am featuring from the Rocklahoma 2013 lineup is a band that my son Rockin Ryan told me about, sort of. He was actually keeping this band a secret for a while teasing me with the incredible rock sound that they bring. I would hear bits of songs that he would be playing in the garage and would have to ask over and over who they were. They just reminded me of my fun times on the Sunset Strip in the 80’s and I wanted to know if they were a new or an old band that I had missed. Then it happened, he left his headphones down for a second and I grabbed them and savored what I was hearing. It was truly like ear porn! I was in heaven as I could hear classic 80’s style shredding riffs, catchy melody and the vocals… let me tell you about the vocals. I swear it was like hearing a young crisp David Lee Roth. I looked down at [Read More]

Make Nasty Habit your new habit!

February 25, 2013

Rocklahoma 2013 Band Feature I have a great new Nasty Habit for you and it will ROCK your World! I am talking about four young guys from New York who are on a mission to bring back Rock and Roll. With their Rock and Roll passion prevalent throughout their rockin songs like “Heart Breakin, Hip Shakin”, “Saturday Night”, and ‘Tripped” it is no wonder they are a part of Rocklahoma 2013!  Nasty Habit has Tommy Ende on lead vocals, Kenny Ende on guitar, David Jordan on drums, and Frankie Wheeler on bass. When I hear a band like Nasty Habit, I completely renew my faith in the younger generation to keep true rock and roll alive. Nasty Habit will make sure that Rock and Roll is here to stay! They have my favorite sounds from the ’80s which I love. They kind of remind me of a mix of White Lion/Poison and with the groove of Bullet Boys! These guys are going to blow your mind away as you take a listen and think you are [Read More]

Matt Brady wants you to take a few risks, surprise yourself, most of all be good to people

February 14, 2013

As many of you know, Matt Brady from New Medicine left the band in December 2012 to move to Ghana, West Africa and work with the Joy 2 the World foundation which empowers women entrepreneurs in Africa through microloans.  I still remember reading his announcement on Facebook: **Hey friends, I’ve got a big life event to announce. Last night was my FINAL SHOW with New Medicine, and it was unforgettable!! I’m moving my life to Ghana, West Africa on January 10th, 2013. As many of you know, the work I’ve done in Ghana the last few years is immensely important to me and I’m ready to fully commit to making an impact there.  That being said, this was an incredibly difficult decision to make. I know chances are that most folks won’t understand completely why I’m doing this; I know it comes as a shock and some of you will be disappointed. I’ve got all the love in the world for Jake, Ryan, Dan, and the extended New Meds family– I’m thrilled for what the [Read More]

Marie-Claire Berreen is a majestic beauty wrapped in music

February 12, 2013

Majestic Beauty Wrapped in Music I have a wonderful treat for your ears. It is the majestic beauty wrapped in music by Marie-Claire Berreen. When you think of some of the best female vocalists like Barbra Streisand, Sarah McLaughlin, Tori Amos, and Leigh Nash,  you think of powerful voices that can reach within you and touch you with warmth. That is what I feel when I listen to the classical folk music by Marie-Claire Berreen. Marie-Claire’s voice is like sunshine brightening the sky. you can’t help but feel the warmth from her words and they leave you feeling sun kissed. She has a wonderful CD of her beautiful music titled, “Box and a Ribbon” that will take over all of your senses.  The first song is “Honeypie” and literally is the perfect way to start off the CD. You are warm and open and feel her welcoming embrace. It is like that long lost friend coming to greet you again and feeling like you never left their side. You are treated to so many wonderful [Read More]
