Red Sky Mary’s new video for Gone has you craving their live shows!

October 16, 2015

One of my favorite new bands, Red Sky Mary from New Hampshire has just released their new video for Gone. The video captures the passion that these guys bring to the stage for their live performances. Check out the new video here: We caught Red Sky Mary when they performed with Texas Hippie Coalition out on the Smokin Hot Tour at the DNA Lounge in San Francisco.  We made sure we we were not going to miss them. They blew us with their signature sound that fuses 70’s classic rock with modern hard rock and a flash of blues.  They have energy, charisma, smoking guitar riffs, and vocals that will have you in lust with them! In case you missed it, check out our chat with the band shortly before their set at the DNA Lounge: They rocked the crowd and played our favorites from their debut album, River Child which was released earlier this year on Carved Records. You can pick up their new album on iTunes here. Here are some photos by our [Read More]

Gina Chavez interview: putting your body where your lyrics are. By Patrick O’Heffernan

October 9, 2015

(Los Angeles) I first encountered Gina Chavez in a tiny venue in San Francisco and began following her career and her incredible personal story. Chavez is a bilingual Latin-folk singer/songwriter from Austin, Texas, part of the American Latin Music genre that I love.  She blends the sounds of the Americas – cumbia, bossa nova, pop, reggaeton, folk,  rock –  whatever – into  earworm songs, some with pointed social commentary and stories of hardship and bravery. And she has put her body where her lyrics are, volunteering to work with poor people in a very dangerous El Salvador.  Her latest independent release, Uprooted, topped the iTunes and Amazon Latin charts.  I was fortunate enough to talk with her from her tour while she was in New Mexico, heading for a concert in Hollywood, Saturday night at the Hotel Café.   Patrick. There are so many great songs on this album – “all thrillers and no fillers”,  as we say in the music business. One song on the album,  Soy Quien Soy, “I am who [Read More]

Interview with The Relapse Symphony and catch them out on The Other Side Tour

October 9, 2015

We were so glad to make it down last Sunday to the Whisky a GoGo to catch The Relapse Symphony on New Years Day The Other Side Tour. It was the second day of the tour and the crowd was lined up early, wrapping around The Whisky. It has been quite a while since I have seen a line around the block so early. The lineup on this tour is incredible and it was a sold out show! You have a night fueled with high energy with sets by The Relapse Symphony, Eyes Set To Kill, Darksiderz, Get Scared and headliners New Years Day. We had a chance to catch up with Bret and JC before their set and are pleased to bring that interview to you here: One thing is for sure, if anyone entered the doors of The Whisky that night, being unfamiliar with The Relapse Symphony, they definitely left as new fans! They blew everyone away with their set! Every time we see Ray, JC and Bret we think they exceed our [Read More]
