Tarralyn Ramsay sings her soul out at the BET Experience: interview with Patrick O’Heffernan

June 29, 2015

Tarralyn Ramsay is here in Los Angeles this week for the BET Experience and the BET Awards, being held at the LA Live center in downtown Los Angeles.  She will joining stars like Niki Minaj, Tamar Braxton, Chris Brown, Jason Derulo and many others in a national Celebration of black music and stars.  But the road to BET was not easy for Tarralyn,. Despite early success with her gospel and R&B albums, she learned that her tremendous voice – one of the best in music today – is not always enough to spell success.  It took years of hard work and a strong faith tempered with an understanding of the music business to put her on the stage in Los Angeles this Sunday. When you meet her, as I did yesterday, what comes across is not her Undeniable talent, or her striking beauty, but a friendly, accessible, positive person – an woman surrounded by an aura of warmth and welcoming, a genuine person.  What you see is what you get, and what you get [Read More]

Interview with The Karma Killers as they bring high energy rock to Vans Warped Tour

June 26, 2015

Vans Warped Tour has an amazingly diverse lineup this year and there is definitely something for everyone at the festival.  The only problem might be that so many bands are playing at the same time and you wish you could clone yourself so you don’t miss all the great sets.  One of our highlights of Vans Warped Tour is the kick ass band, The Karma Killers. Hailing from New Jersey is this punk infused rock/pop band that will soon become one of your favorites. We were able to chat with them shortly before their set on the Ernie Ball stage and are pleased to bring that interview to you here. (We apologize for the audio in advance)     We caught them on the Ernie Ball stage and they just tore it up. Their non stop energy drew the crowd in as you couldn’t walk away from this non-stop rock. They even got the crowd all riled up with a stellar cover of Rockaway Beach by the Ramones. They have excellent stage presence and I [Read More]

Interview: Janani Vaidyanathan – a hardworking, hard rocking alt rock woman on a roll. By Patrick O’Heffernan

June 22, 2015

There must be something in the water in Orlando Florida.  This Disneyesque town in central Florida has produced the Backstreet Boys, NSync, Matchbox Twenty, C-Note, Katherine Rodriguez, and last week on Music FridayLive! talked with Alex Baugh, the founder of the fast-rising Crazy Carls.  And then I discovered JANANI, another Orlando- based band with fabulous musical chops and a kick-ass frontwoman/cofounder, Janani Vaidyanathan .   Relatively new on the scene, JANANI didn’t release a full EP until last year, Three Step System EP, produced and partially co-written by Brett Hestla, formerly of Creed. But then they took off.   The EP’s single, “Where Was I?” took flight and the band was selected to compete in the Top 8 for the Hard Rock Rising Orlando competition. It has just been tapped to perform at the Cutting Edge Music Conference this August. Their new single “Hey! Mister” is getting spins on radio stations from Canada to Orlando and the song’s music video was aired by Comcast and the Indie Music Channel and featured in DIRECTTV’s documentary, Gone Until December.   “Run [Read More]
