Interview with Shadows of Eyekahna, contributed by Drift N Die

May 27, 2015

Straight from Boston, dripping in clown white and red blood, comes Shadows of Eyekahna! This theatrical rock band is working hard to give their crowds a show worth seeing. Recently bassist Brandon Blackout and drummer Izzy Scott allowed me to pick at their brains quite a bit! DND: What’s the concept & message of Shadows of Eyekahna? Izzy: The concept behind the band is that we’re a rock ‘n’ roll band trying to put on a show and stand out. We wear 20 pounds of make up, have big drum sets, cool looking guitars, and spit blood on each other for the entertainment of the people who come to our shows. Which, many local bands in our area and bands in general do not do or want to do. Brandon: The message itself, I would say, is that we’re tired of being chained to various cycles that are expected of local bands and civilians in general. We are here to play music because we enjoy it, and we enjoy theatrics because it gives folks their money’s [Read More]

Interview with southern rock band NEELY contributed by DriftNDie

May 27, 2015

Music creates love, but in the case of southern rock band NEELY, love created music. Husband and wife team Jeremy and Kaci Neely tour the country, with kids in tow, spreading their messages and lyrics. NEELY brings forth a mix of lighter rock, much like 3 Doors Down and Daughtry, along with heavier ballads similar to Evanescence. Recently Drift & Die Press had an opportunity to chat with one half of the Nashville duo! DND: What’s the general concept & mission of NEELY? Jeremy: Kaci and I simply want to make excellent music that moves people. Outside of the writing process, we try our best to treat every individual (whether online or at a show) the way that we would want to be treated. Really in the end we aren’t out there trying to build a “fanbase” but rather a worldwide family.   DND: Where’d the band name come from? Jeremy: The name NEELY is simply our last name. I remember when we tried to find that perfect name. We wrote list after list and [Read More]

Ashley Xtina releases empowering new song, I Choose Me

May 22, 2015

We have featured several times the amazingly talented Ashley Xtina and her powerful vocals wrapped in emotionally driven lyrics. She has just released another new song and it is truly beautiful and empowering.  Her new track, I Choose Me delivers a much needed message to all. Ashley comments on the inspiration for the song, “The inspiration for this song came at a time in my life when everything seemed to be falling apart and while I knew I should do some things, it seems as if I MUST do others. At the end of the day, if you don’t pursue your dreams, no one will. So that’s why I choose me from now on. That’s the message I’m trying to spread 🙂 ”  The song really does encapsulate that message of how in a world where you could be tugged in so many directions, trying to please everyone,  the person you must focus on first, is yourself. It reminds me of the truth in one of my favorite quotes, “When you say ‘Yes’ to others, [Read More]
