Interview with Apocalyptica as they are out on tour!

April 13, 2015

We recently brought you our Concert Review of SIXX: A.M., Apocalyptica and Vamps as they delivered a night of amazing music in San Francisco. You can check out our review here. Apocalyptica took to the stage and delivered a mind-blowing set of their instrumental, rock/metal music featuring cellos. You can’t help but watch them in amazement as they bring a whole new level to classical music by taking it up to 11 and bringing out the metal. I was excited to catch their new vocalist, Franky Perez. He has such powerful vocals that were the perfect fit to the big sound of Apocalyptica. They also performed some of their new songs and completely blew everyone away with their new hit, Shadowmaker! We had the chance to chat with with Eicca and Paavo shortly before their set and you can check it out here: Check out the incredible photos from our Rockin Ryan of their San Francisco set: Make sure to check the upcoming show dates and get yourself to a show. The Glorious Sons brightens your day with their new video for Lightning

April 10, 2015

One of my favorite concerts of this year was when The Glorious Sons came to San Francisco and performed at the DNA Lounge. They are a hard working band from Ontario, Canada and truly blew us away from first listen.  They put on an incredible set that had me grinning from ear to ear as I watched a band for the first time and knew that it will definitely not be my last. They have just released a music video for their song, Lightning which is off their album, The Union. Check it out here: I love that song. There is such emotion that these bring to their music and you can’t help but hear the passion they have. We had the chance to chat with the band when they were out on tour with 10 Years and Otherwise for the Birth To Burial Tour. Check out our interview with them here: We featured The Glorious Sons as one of our Bands of The Day because their infectious rock sound and they have a great energetic [Read More]

Interview with Doe Paoro on LA, her music, a new album and what she hears when she meditates. By Patrick O’Heffernan

April 7, 2015

I met Doe Paoro recently at a SofarLA concert in Culver City.  The room was so crowded that  I stood literally right next to her as she sang –any closer and I would have been dodging her elbows.  Turns out that was a great place to be because I got the full range of her impressive voice and clearly heard every word of her magical lyrics.  As a songwriter and vocalist, Doe Paoro moves easily across genres and creates new ones on the fly. Her 2012 debut album Slow to Love was influenced by her study of Tibetan folk opera.  Her follow up album, After, as she puts it, “built an entire world with the sonics alone.”  Her videos, “Walking Backward” and “Born Whole” are visual enchantment. Paoro has travelled the  world by herself, studied in India, moved from Brooklyn to LA, released her first album at the age of 15 and at one point, quit music altogether.  Fortunately for us, she is back in front of the microphone and the video camera making stunning music and [Read More]
