Interview with Justin Emord of Love and a .38 at NAMM

February 2, 2018

We have so many exciting things to share with you all from our NAMM trip! Of course, it wouldn’t be NAMM without an interview with one of the hardest working musicians, Justin Emord of Love and a .38. Justin started his NAMM week off early with  NAMM’s Foundation Day of Service helping kids learn music. His band also performed at the new NAMM Arena Plaza Stage on Friday and they truly rocked the stage! Justin also gave a very informative seminar on acquiring sponsorships and he even acquired several new sponsorships himself. We had a chance to catch up with Justin and are pleased to bring you that interview here: This was quite a hard NAMM for us to cover, after losing the business and our home in the Santa Rosa fires but talking with Justin, you can’t help but feel optimistic about the future. He truly shines in his field and his passion for music is inspiring and invigorating. Thank you Justin for all that you do! We can’t wait for some new Love and [Read More]

Interview with Revolushn and get to know their special brand of psychadelic insanity

September 20, 2017

Revolushn Interview by Eileen Shapiro   With their own very special brand of psychedelic insanity, the San Francisco psych rock collective has just unleashed “Further!!”, to the unsuspecting world, a sonically tasteful album, with darkened lyrics and happy endings. Members of this faction include: No, on guitar, keys and vocals. No first picked up a guitar at 5 years old, and had his first band at age 11. No spent several years as a sessions player and Revolushn is his first effort at creating a sound and style. Dekay (David Kendrick), is the real rock star as No describes him, and has been a professional musician all of his life. He’s been a member of bands such as “Devo”, “Sparks”, and “Gleaming Spires”, and writes most of the lyrics for the group while playing the drums. Guinevere Q NBFD, plays the bass and does vocals. Beyond the blues: an interview with Jackie Venson

September 19, 2017

Patrick O’Heffernan (Hollywood) Jackie Venson is usually described as a blues guitarist with a smoky voice and unreal guitar chops. She has won a ton of awards for her blues playing and even has a holiday with her name on it in her native Austin Texas – Jackie Venson Day. But she is much more than a blues woman.  If you listen carefully, you will hear that her blues is tinged with rock, soul and even rap and pop, and her lyrics are the stories of today, not the past.  H voice is smoother and more sensual than most blues and her audiences are much wider and younger than the classic blues crowd. She is on tour now in advance of releasing her fourth album, Transcends,  Sept 29. We caught up with her the day after her concert in Hollywood while she was waiting to see if she could get into the Forum that night to see Gary Clark Jr. open for Eric Clapton.otel café.   Patrick. Jackie, besides the new album coming out, what [Read More]

Interview with Sluka about his new release by Eileen Shapiro

September 12, 2017

One of the most prophetic and musically advanced artists in the world today Christopher Sluka quietly and mysteriously defies imagination. He conjures up political demons, while celebrating  their demise, and manufactures a darkness while illuminating the world with a euphonious sonic fantasy, meticulously encapsulated within his new release, “Colorful Radiation”. An abstract revolutionary, Sluka has the aptitude and attitude  to create mellifluous masterful orchestrations larger than life to accompany his powerful lyrical messages in this 10 track masterpiece. Often and easily compared to Bowie, Coldplay, Radiohead and The Killers,  Sluka has recorded 11 studio albums., as well as a Blu ray video album of last year’s compelling accomplishment, “Introversions”. “Colorful Radiation” was recorded and mixed by Sluka who also played all instruments including: guitar, piano, drums, bass, violin, trumpet, trombone, French horn, ukulele and synthesizer. His powerfully emotional vocals has drawn inspired, global audiences to his memorable live performances of which sold out venues are commonplace. Aside from his overwhelming and captivating musical endowment, Sluka is also an Intercontinental renowned visual artist whose surrealistic oil paintings have [Read More]

Toggo Ultrarock Interview: Take a step into his Twilight Zone of creativity

September 11, 2017

The dazzling, larger than life, effervescently flamboyant Toggo Ultrarock has just released his new single entitled Cannonball. A cross between Freddy Mercury, Alice Cooper and Adele, this artist, born and raised in Norway has one of the most unique voices I’ve ever heard, in the best way possible. I was indisputably compelled to investigate his prior music, and pray for more new releases. Toggo comes with an air of mystery. Once in a band called Scared of Girls, located in Hollywood, he was about to go national when he literally disappeared. Eight months later he re-emerged, having lost everything due to a strange experience…his house, his car, his money, and his chance at fame. Now he’s back with his soon to be released EP titled “Ultrarock”, accompanying his new single and video for Cannonball. I’m still not quite sure what universe Toggo has originated from, but wherever it is, I need to be there. I visited his Twilight Zone of creativity, and had a conversation with the EDM glam rocker, who replied to my inquisition [Read More]
