Say We Can Fly with The Living in Munich, Orangehouse, February 21st, 2016
Braden Barrie, probably better known as Say We Can Fly, visited our beautiful city yesterday to play a gig at the Orangehouse. It’s a small venue, with an even smaller stage. But that makes shows all the more cozy.
Contrary to the concerts I usually attend, it was a really quiet kind of night.
Due to the band arriving a bit late, doors opened only about 10 minutes before the announced show time. In the end the show started at about 20.30 (8.30 pm), half an hour later than scheduled.
Braden had a local band opening up for him. They’re called The Living. They play a bluesy-poppy tune. It’s easy listening music. They’ll soon go out on a little tour of their own promoting the release of their upcoming EP ‘Open Stories’.
Braden Barrie, a Canada resident, played last year’s Vans Warped tour in the US and finally he made it over the great pond and to tour European soil. The venue wasn’t really packed. The audience was 100% really young people with a few parents waiting outside and some of them attending the show. He played newer songs like ‘The Distance That Took You Away’ from his recent record between the roses, but also earlier ones like ‘Scars’. His vocal range is amazing and it was quite entertaining. Even though it’s a more emotional music, it was in no way dull to listen to. Unfortunately he only played about 50 minutes and there was no encore, which was a really really short set. It could’ve lasted a bit longer and next time hopefully will.
After the set Braden hung out with the audience and patiently took pictures with almost everyone in the room.
Tour ends in Zurich on February 22nd. Next chance to catch Braden live will be in the US on his tour there, starting March 1st in Chicago, IL.
