Girl Tones Bring Raw, High Energy to the Cornerstone

We had a chance to catch Girl Tones opening for Dexter and the Moonrocks  at the Cornerstone in Berkeley, and we were especially excited to see them in such a small, intimate venue. Knowing they’re on a serious upward rise, it felt like one of those “right place, right time” moments.

The two-girl group immediately brings to mind that raw, stripped-down energy reminiscent of the White Stripes — a drummer and a guitarist/singer, with both of them sharing vocal duties. From the moment they hit the stage, they delivered an incredibly high-energy set that had the crowd moving and dancing from start to finish. Their chemistry was undeniable, and they absolutely owned the room.

We can’t wait to catch them again at this year’s BottleRock Festival in Napa, where we’ll be bringing you full coverage — and hopefully an interview as well.

Dexter and The Moonrocks hit the stage and the energy continued on. The crowd was dancing and singing along from start to finish.
