San Francisco turns back time with The Alarm, Modern English, Jay Aston’s Gene Loves Jezebel at Regency Ballroom

You can forget the expensive fountain of youth potions and pills. The Alarm’s Sigma Tour came to San Francisco and their performance had everyone returning to their youth with full vitality and energy.

The Alarm released their highly praised Sigma Album earlier this year and it has been topping the charts. The band decided to gather their fraternity of alt British rock bands and take the Sigma Tour on the road.  The Alarm Sigma LXXXV Tour with Modern English and Jay Aston’s Gene Loves Jezebel was like a musical journey through a time machine.

The night kicked off with a stellar set by Jay Aston’s Gene Loves Jezebel. The energy was overflowing on the stage and the crowd quickly reciprocated as they sang along to their fave songs. Jay’s vocals were captivating and they gave 110% with each song. Their performance of How Do You Say Goodbye (To Someone You Love) was rich in emotion and soul touching. The fans went wild when they finished the set with a crowd pleasing performance of Desire (Come and Get It). Check out photos from their set:

Next up, was Modern English and the crowd’s energy increased. The  band was spot on and sounded as if you were listening to the studio albums of years ago. It was truly spectacular. The absolute highlight was being present as every voice in the venue sang along to I Melt With You. You could just see the memories and happiness in the eyes of the audience. A magical moment that no one will soon forget.

The Alarm hit the stage and the clock started turning back again. The crowd was rejuvenated and the adrenaline was present as every fan  rocked out to each song. You were taken back to the first time you heard the songs, and instantly fell in love all over again. Each song was like a magical potion rewinding the years of your life, washing away our worries and concerns, and whatever burdens we were carrying seemed much lighter at that moment. The music whisked us away to better times.

Personally, I have deeply struggled after the loss of our home and business in the 2017 firestorm and have been in such a dark place recently. This show was like a sunrise and hope for a new day. I was reveling in the light and enjoying every second. I could only imagine the magic it was delivering to the entire audience.

Hearing The Alarm perform Peace Now and seeing a sea of peace signs in the audience was a magical moment of the night. If we could bottle all the hope and love in that ballroom at that moment, and share it with the world, it would definitely be a better place. The night concluded with a special treat for the audience. Original drummer Nigel Twist came out and performed a couple songs for the encore. Amazing!
