Oakland’s beloved festival Mosswood Meltdown is returning July 18th and 19th, 2026 to Mosswood Park. This year, we’re excited to be hosting a pre-party at Mosswood Park on July 17th, featuring three incredible acts. Acts will be announced shortly, and of course, the festival would not be complete without the inimitable and esteemed John Waters, who celebrates his 12th year as host in 2026. As CBS Bay Area praised, Mosswood Meltdown is “one of the most entertaining two-day celebrations of punk in the Bay Area” (CBS New Bay Area). This is a weekend not to be missed!
John Waters comments,
“Some call it “The Warped Woodstock’ or ‘An Asshole-free Altamont’ while others holler ‘Coachella, Go-To Hella’. We’re Mosswood Meltdown and we’re going to lose our musical marbles again this year with a line up of lunatic acts that will make even the angriest punk- rocker pogo their way to paradise with a twisted smile on their dirty little faces.”
The Bay Area’s favorite music festival returns to Oakland’s Mosswood Park July 18th & 19th, 2026. Saturday is headlined by the “Godfather of Punk” IGGY POP, fiery Japanese quartet OTOBOKE BEAVER, Santa Cruz’s hardcore heroes SCOWL, skate-punks THE SPITS, Detroit garage rock legends THE DIRTBOMBS, always-unpredictable Tokyo troublemakers, THE FADEAWAYS, and LA-based power trio PRIMITIVE RING.
Legendary feminist punk pioneers leaders BIKINI KILL will cap off an epic Sunday, which also features THE RETURN OF JACKIE & JUDY (a Ramones tribute band consisting of Sleater Kinney’s Corin Tucker and Carrie Brownstein with Fred Armisen on the drums), bitchin’ camaro-owners THE DEAD MILKMEN, the electrifying FRANKIE & THE WITCH FINGERS, cult favorites FRIGHTWIG, and Miami rockers LAS NUBES.
Of course, it wouldn’t be a Mosswood Meltdown without the terrifically transgressive JOHN WATERS, who will be our wonderfully wicked host. 🦩
