We recently featured I Capture Castle as our Band of the Day. They are definitely a band I hope you had a chance to check out as they are making a name for themselves with their unique blend of electronic hardcore metal. I Capture Castle are from Utah and are set to release a new EP Daydreamers this year. Their passion and determination to make music that is not simply categorized by a genre checkbox, has led them to rapidly grow their fanbase. They have recently released a new single/music video for their song, Paper Walls which is off their upcoming EP Daydreamer. The song will definitely  have you excited for their new EP.

We had the chance to interview lead guitarist, Keaton Stewart and are pleased to bring that interview to you here:

Music Junkie Press: Thank you Keaton for your time. We recently featured I Capture Castle as our Band of the Day. You guys have brought a great refreshing new sound to the scene with electronics, hardcore and metal. Whom would be your most influential artists for you?

Keaton: There are several different artists that have influenced me through out the years but if I had to choose just one it would hands down be Led Zeppelin.

Music Junkie Press: We understand you have recorded your EP (Daydreamer), is there a release date as of yet?

Keaton: As of right now we do not have an exact release date. We do however plan to release each song individually with a music video before we officially drop the album.

Music Junkie Press: Paper Walls is a great track and infectiously catchy heavy tune. Can you tell us more about the song?

Keaton: The idea behind Paper Walls is much like the old saying “truth is stranger than fiction.” We hope to encourage people to look beyond the horizon and question what they know or have heard. ICC is very supportive of keeping an open mind at all times.

Music Junkie Press: With your EP set to release, do you have any touring plans as of yet for 2015?

Keaton: We plan to be back on the road shortly after releasing Daydreamer.

Music Junkie Press: If we could peek into your Ipod, what artist or song might be most surprising for us to find in there?

Keaton: I have surprisingly never owned an Ipod, but I do have Nat King Cole’s ‘Love is here to stay’ on vinyl.

Music Junkie Press: With the fact that you have successfully created what soon everyone will know as your signature sound, if you could take a song from a completely different genre or era and turn it into your own, what would it be?

Keaton: I would most definitely choose a Beatles tune, but as far as which song in particular I would pick I have no clue! They have so many amazing songs it would be hard for me to choose just one.

Music Junkie Press: How about your gear? What is your Guitar Rig rundown?

Keaton: Currently for my main guitar I am playing is a Black Epiphone Les Paul with EMG pickups that I purchased at age 14 at a music store I religiously hung out at called Mikes Music in Rexburg, Idaho. For amplification I use a Peavey 6505 head and Mesa 4×12 cab. I also use Kent Custom Casing to give my gear a safe and secure home.

Music Junkie Press: Can you remember the first song you learned to play in its entirety? And your first guitar?

Keaton: My first electric guitar was a Fender Squire Mini Stratocaster that I had received as a Christmas gift when I was 8 years old. Later that day my older brother Ryan taught me Nirvana’s ‘Come As You Are’ and AC DC’s ‘Hells Bells.

Music Junkie Press: If you could put together your dream tour, what three bands would you like to head out on the road with?

Keaton: I know this would be implausible but I would have to say Pearl Jam, Black Flag with Henry Rollins and The Doors.

Music Junkie Press: Do you guys have any preshow rituals to harness that energy that you guys deliver onstage?

Keaton: We each have our own thing we do, mine usually consists of warming up my hands by practicing some scales and doing sexy stretches/push-ups to get the blood flowing.

Music Junkie Press: If you could go back to your 14 year old self, what advice would you give to yourself?

Keaton: As lame as it sounds I would honestly give myself fashion advice…

Music Junkie Press: Lastly, is there something you would like to share with your fans and our audience?

Keaton: If you are reading this you do not need glasses, also thank you for giving a shit. You guys are the best.

Music Junkie Press: Thank you for your time and we look forward to seeing you out on the road!
