Black Oxygen breathes life into The American Dream

November 25, 2013

It is Monday night and are you ready to get hooked on an KILLER Rock Band??? Sit back, relax and breathe  in the fresh new life of Black Oxygen!  Holy Shit, these guys are amazing. They have a sound that is definitely of their own and it reminds me of a blend of Stone Temple Pilots and Puddle of Mudd. Founder David Lyle not only is an amazing singer/songwriter but also the lead guitarist. Then you have bad ass Jordan Myer on bass and solid drumming by David’s younger brother Nick Lyle. These three guys create a powerful trio that has a big sound that will have you take notice. Black Oxygen released their full length debut album, “The American Dream” that has so many great songs on it that it will continue stay on the charts. Their first single, Take It To The Limit just grabs a hold of you and infuses their rock n roll into your veins. You are hooked now my friends, so just enjoy the ride.  You can check out [Read More]

DRAMARAMA to play at Whisky-a-Go-Go 50th Anniversary Party!

November 16, 2013

Earlier this year we brought you an interview with one of the most influential bands of my life, DRAMARAMA. You can check ou that interview here. As I said in that post, “Music has been my passenger on my rollercoaster ride of my life, with me during my highs and there to comfort me during my lows. No matter what mood I was in, music was always there to share in the moment. So many times when someone mentions an artist or a band, I can go back and remember the first time I heard them or how I was introduced to their music. It is almost like when someone asks you about how you met an old friend or boyfriend. You always know the facts.” You can read about the first time I ever heard Dramarama. What is exciting is that Dramarama is set to play at one of The Whisky-a-Go-Go for their 50th Anniversary shows. They will be playing on Sunday, January 12th, 2014! Make sure to pick up your tickets to this incredible [Read More]

Don’t miss Dave Grohl taking over Chelsea Lately this week!

February 4, 2013

One of my favorite television talk show host, Chelsea Handler of Chelsea Lately is out on vacation this week. I always look forward to hearing her tales from her travels but this time I am even more excited that she is out on vacation! She has none other than my fave Dave Grohl filling in for  her all week as guest host of the show. Dave is going to be hosting the week with music themed guests and I am sure we will be able to hear the latest on his Sound City Players project. Dave recently released his documentary; Sound City: Real to Reel which is about the history of America’s greatest unsung record studio hidden in Los Angeles, Sound City Studios. Dave also has been performing with what he calls “Sound City Players” that is comprised of an all star lineup of musicians which are featured in the film including Rick Springfield, Stevie Nicks, John Fogerty, and many more including Grohl’s Nirvana bandmate Krist Novoselic and Foo Fighters bandmates Taylor Hawkins, Nate Mendel and Pat [Read More]

Popscene Presents brings NEWDAD and dethcaps to the Rickshaw Stop in San Francisco

October 29, 2024

Popscene Presents brought an incredible show to the Rickshaw Stop last night, transforming a typical Monday into an unforgettable night of music. Kicking things off was dethcaps—a Bay Area trio dishing out some much-needed ‘bubblegrunge’. Their infectious set had the crowd moving and vibing, with a massive sound that belied their three-piece lineup. If you’re in the Bay Area, be sure to catch their next show at O’Reilly’s Pub on November 16th in San Francisco.  Next up was NEWDAD, making their debut U.S. headlining tour stop. It was a special treat to see them in such an intimate venue, knowing they’re destined for bigger stages soon. Like any tour opener, there were a few technical difficulties, but the band took it in stride, turning the moment into a spontaneous Q&A with the crowd. Their personalities truly shone through, and everyone had a great time. Highlights of the set included a stellar live performance of “Angel,” one of our favorite tracks, and a deep dive into their older material alongside an exciting unreleased song. NEWDAD [Read More]
