Walk the Moon deliver an uplifting energetic set at SJSU on The Gospel Tour

August 30, 2014

We were excited to see Walk the Moon as the special guest on Panic! at the Disco The Gospel Tour concert at SJSU this past Thursday. I have been looking forward to catching them live and was so glad I did. This band which has been described as anything from indie to electro-visual, really can be summed up with the following; Music that inspires, invigorates, makes you want to move as you  love and live life in the most positive manner. These young four musicians have successfully captured inspiration through their music and transfers it so beautifully to the listener. Their indie rock style appeals not only to a young generation but to anyone who enjoys great music with empowering lyrical content. It was great to see the crowd at the San Jose State University filled with excitement as they took to the stage. They captivated the audience and as the music played, you could see waves of movement through the crowd. You just can’t keep still when you are watching them. I was watching [Read More]

Panic! at the Disco bring their spectacular stage show to SJSU on The Gospel Tour

August 30, 2014

Thursday night be tackled the dense notorious Bay Area traffic to make it down just in time for The Gospel Tour concert at San Jose State University. Panic! at the Disco headlining tour featuring support by Walk the Moon and Youngblood Hawke was one we were not going to miss. Panic! at the Disco had an amazing stage set up with probably one of the best light shows I have seen in a long time. It is great to see a band that places an importance on the set, lights, backing led screen. The members were strategically spread out across the stage and yet they didn’t feel isolated or separated.  Vocalist, Brendon Urie, whom earlier this year won for Best Vocalist at the APMA awards proved once again that he is well deserving of the award. His powerful vocals, charming swagger and personality just shine through each song. He has great stage presence and intense energy that lit up the stadium. The guitarists would sprint across the stage and make sure that they would treat [Read More]

12 Days of Bands You Have to Know

Interview with Pushing The Sun as they play the Phoenix Theater

August 28, 2014

Just last year, we featured Pushing The Sun on our 12 Days of Bands You Have To Know. In case you missed it, check it out here: Day 10 goes to Pushing The Sun. This is one band that really made an impression upon us from first seeing them perform at the Rockstar Uproar Festival in 2013. They are a heavy hard rock band fused with catchy melodies and emotionally driven lyrics. Their motto, Their motto, “We will light up your life, we have fire in our hands!” definitely rings true. Last Friday, we headed to the historic Phoenix Theater to catch their set and as I mentioned with our coverage of Approaching Fiction, it tended to be a light night for the crowd. That in no way stopped Pushing the Sun from delivering their adrenaline fueled set. They took the stage and fiercely rocked the theater! Andrew Saman is captivating on vocals as he creates a strong connection delivering such emotion with each word. He is powerful yet vulnerable, he is heavy yet comforting, he [Read More]

Check out Cat from State Line Empire shred in his EMG Spotlight

August 27, 2014

One of our favorite guitarists, Cat from State Line Empire was recently featured on EMGtv performing his song Deus Ex Machina which is off his upcoming solo record, Marigold Project. We have been big fans of State Line Empire as they consistently deliver shows with a 150% energy and are true crowd pleasers. Cat is always there to shred away but in his recent spotlight, you will really get blown away by his performance. Check out the video from EMGtv with Cat performing Deus Ex Machina: Cat is using the EMG 81 and 60 humbucker pickups. “I have been using EMG pickups for ever. I find that they are responsive and cut through perfectly. Richie Faulkner turned me on to the 57/66 sets which are mind blowing. Best pickups and best company!!!“, Cat explains. You can purchase: EMG 81s here: http://www.emgpickups.com/guitar/humbucking/active-humbucking/81.html EMG 60 humbuckers here: http://www.emgpickups.com/guitar/humbucking/active-humbucking/60.html. Approaching Fiction delivered an energetic set of hard rock at The Phoenix Theater

August 27, 2014

Last Friday, we trekked out to Petaluma and the historical venue of The Phoenix for a night of live music and great bands. I wish more people would make an effort to get out to live shows. The Phoenix has always been a crap shoot and you never know what type of crowd you will get. It might have been a light crowd, but Approaching Fiction delivered a set as if they were playing to a sold out arena. Approaching Fiction are from San Diego were making a stop in Petaluma for their Outbreak Tour. They bring a fierce dose of hard rock with metal edge. Their guitar heavy songs energize amid some fluid basslines, we were even treated to a bad ass bass solo. The precision drumming brings it all together with the powerful vocals igniting your senses. This was the first time I had seen Approaching Fiction but definitely not the last! Check out photos by our Rockin Ryan of their set: We picked up their CD Theleventhour which is also available on [Read More]
