Carla Harvey from Butcher Babies announces date for book release party and book signing

August 20, 2014

The ladies from Butcher Babies are amazing front women and talented beauties. Carla Harvey will be releasing her upcoming novel, Death and Other Dances on August 25th in select bookstores as well as Amazon, Amazon Europe, and Kindle. This semi-autobiographical work tells the story of Autumn Franklin – an awkward, biracial Detroit native – that is disconnected from her peers at an early age because of her background. When Autumn’s young parents divorce, she becomes even more withdrawn, yet survives the cards that she’s been dealt by relocating to the alluring City of Angels, where she has but one goal: to find herself. Struggling to make solid connections with those around her, Autumn swallows her reservations and pushes limits to the extreme as she transitions between a drastic career change: from the bowels of the adult entertainment industry to her rebirth as a mortician. There amongst the dead, she learns what it is to live, love, and to allow others inside, finally landing in the most comfortable place of all: her own skin. You can read an [Read More]

Ani DiFranco set to release new album Allergic to Water on October 14th via her own Righteous Babe Records

August 20, 2014

Great news to share! Ani DiFranco is set to release a new album, Allergic To Water on October 14th through her own label, Righteous Babe Records. The album was tracked by herself at her New Orleans home, often while her family slept and creates a hushed vibe to the album. Ani explained more about the album during a statement on her site: “Mostly I worked alone in headphones, in the wee hours, while my family slept. It was empowering but terrifying to have the buck stop with me again in terms of the mixes. The recordings are documents of my current touring band (recorded by Mike in our old victorian house in the Marigny neighborhood of New Orleans and also by Andy Taub at a nearby church in the Treme) just laying down the songs. “Many also feature a couple of very choice special guests. My killer band these days consists of bassist and composer Todd Sickafoose, who not only brings an always wonderful and unexpected counterpoint to my guitar with his bass playing, but [Read More]

Five Finger Death Punch spreading an important message with their video for Wrong Side of Heaven

August 15, 2014

Five Finger Death Punch have always been one of my favorite bands. They are not only a band of great musicians but some of the nicest, caring guys in the industry. They were recently featured as one of our Aftershock Festival Bands of the Day as they will be making stop from their co-headlining tour with Volbeat next month for the festival. They have recently released their video for Wrong Side of Heaven and are hard at work delivering an important message about the staggering statistics of returning veterans afflicted and living with Post Traumatic Stress Disorder. Check out the emotionally driven video and truly poignant message here: The video has surpassed a million views in less than weeks time. One thing is certain, Five Finger Death Punch not only wanted to make everyone aware of the situation, but they are doing more than that by insuring that people join forces to assist these veterans. In tandem with the video’s premiere, the group ignited a special crowd-funding campaign for a jersey entitled 5FDP4VETS “No One [Read More]
