It is an awesome song and you added your own style to it and breathed fresh new life in to it. How did you go about choosing that song? Well that’s great! I’m glad you dig the interpretation. This song got chosen at the very end of a very long road of exploration. I’ve known for a long while I wanted to cover something that’s awesome and offer a different vibe to it, but I’ve intentionally avoided artists and [Read More]

Cold Years release cover of Lizzo’s “Good As Hell”

January 8, 2021

Scottish rock band Cold Years released the cover of Lizzo’s hit “Good As Hell” today. They were joined by the RR Gospel Choir for this. The track was realized in association with the Scottish Association for Mental Health. The band also releases a limited edition t-shirt. The whole proceeds go to the SAMH. You can pre-order the shirt here -> https://www.eoneheavy.uk/collections/cold-years . “We really wanted to do something for the people that struggle a lot at the moment. This pandemic has influenced various perceptions of itself and the surroundings in a negative way. So many people already fought with mental problems before COVID even started. This song fights against everything that puts you down. Many people have lost a lot over the last few months and this song is about getting back up again and gather new courage. We had the feeling, that it is really important to shape the awareness for the great work the SAMH does, not only through the pandemic, but already since 1923, when it helped Scotland to survive the difficult times.” [Read More]

October 23, 2020

Virginia Beach alternative metal band Magg Dylan have revealed a new music video for their latest single “You Oughta Know”, a stunning rendition of the Grammy-winning 90’s rock hit originally performed by Alanis Morissette. The video was directed by Eric Di Carlo and features real women (not actresses) liberating themselves from their experience of previous marriages gone bad. Watch the video Lead singer Suzanne DiIulio says about the song, We chose this song because it is so empowering, and it gives permission to not be okay during a break-up. The concept of the video came about at my best friend’s birthday party. She also went through a divorce and the idea of burning her wedding dress came up in conversation. We decided it would be amazing to have a bunch of real women instead of actresses burn their wedding dresses as well, so I asked some of my friends, and they asked some of their friends, and within a few days we actually had enough volunteers who were also willing to burn their wedding dresses for the shoot! It was a [Read More]

Garret Pierce honors Chris Cornell with his cover of Sweet Euphoria

June 17, 2017

Garrett Pierce briefly met Chris Cornell in 1999 but he truly did make an impact on him and his songwriting. Garrett shares how he met Chris in Berkeley with Payam of Sholi and how chose to cover Sweet Euphoria in honor of Chris.   “In 1999, fresh out of High School, I made my first attempt at living in Northern California.  It was a transformative year for many reasons, but mainly because I met my friend Payam from the Bay Area band Sholi (Touch & Go Records) who became a long-time musical collaborator.  One of the first nights we ever hung out, we attended a Chris Cornell concert at the Berkeley Community Theater, and although I was a big fan of Soundgarden, I’d never met anyone as inspired by Cornell’s songs as Payam.  The show was fantastic, featuring many great cuts from his recent solo album Euphoria Mourning. After the show, we waited in the drizzle to meet the man behind so many of the seminal songs of our youth.  It was a brief exchange, but [Read More]
