Countdown of 14 Bands that will rule 2014, #7 goes to LYNAM

December 18, 2013

Our countdown of 14 Bands that will rule 2014 continues on. Here we are at #7 and it goes to Lynam. I have been in love with Lynam for years now. In 2008, their CD “Tragic City Symphony” was one of my Go To CDs with great singles like Save My Soul, Lindsay Says, and Porn Star which all three made it to the Top 10 on the Active Rock independent chart. Some of my other faves are White Trash Superstar and Just Say Anything.  Their live album Thank You Goodnight was released in 2010 and was also a must have. Oh, and you can’t forget Slave to the Machine! Lynam is Jacob Bunton on lead vocals and guitar, DavidLynam on drums, Mark Dzier on bass, and Lonny Paul on guitar. They are rock n roll personified and are ready take over. Fast forward to 2013 and Lynam has been hard at work on their new EP and was just released this week. The six song EP Halfway to Hell was released through New Ocean Media and was produced by Jason Elgin. It is filled [Read More]

December 17, 2013

Day 9 of our 12 Days of Bands You Have to Know goes to Road Crew from Santa Rosa. Road Crew maybe a local band but they have their eyes on the big Rock’n Roll prize.  They have a big sound that from the first time I heard them, I had my faith restored in music and now know that Rock n Roll will NEVER DIE!  You can read more about that first time here. Road Crew delivers non stop adrenaline filled rock, high energy shows that will have you thinking you are back on the Sunset Strip in 1984. They are the true “adrenaline junkies”.  Check out a teaser for their upcoming video of “Lost”:   Nikki Scott is the rebel on vocals whose gritty voice you will soon fall in love with. Day 4 of Guitarists goes to Jacky Vincent

December 17, 2013

Day 4 of Guitarists goes to one of the most awesome shredders out there today, Jacky Vincent. Many may know Jacky as lead guitarist for Falling in Reverse but he also has a bad ass solo album that highlights is amazing guitar playing. Jacky has impeccable technique and is truly a guitar hero. His solo album Star X Speed Story and it literally takes you through his high energy, lightning speed shredding. It is one of the top guitar instrumental albums out, right up  there with Steve Vai, Jason Becker, Paul Gilbert and my true favorite; Michael Angelo Batio whom Jacky credits a lot of his guitar playing. Some of my personal faves on the album are Without You, Runaway Tryst, Venom Love, Fatal Envy and of course Maybe I am a Wolf.  When you listen, you can seriously feel his guitar singing to you, it is absolutely magical how he makes each note come to life.  You can pick up his album by heading over to Itunes here. You can check out a tribute [Read More]

It  dark edgy sound with an exuberant build up that just delivers another well composed song from Red9.The video is incredibly entertaining and was directed by Raúl Gonzales (RSM Creative).  Red9 does seem to put out some of the best videos in the industry lately! Check out the video here:   These guys are a powerhouse of rock and adrenaline. Red9 is Paul ‘Friz” Frislie on guitars, Giovanni ‘Gio” Fuentes and Jeff on bass and vocals. Together they create a true rock sound and I am hoping for a Bay Area show soon. I am going to need my Red9 Fix! They have a sound similar to Tool and a grungier Nine Inch Nails.
