Cryptopsy in Berkeley: A night of Rage, Stage Diving and Death Metal Fury

Cryptopsy’s night of brutality kicked off with a fierce lineup of openers that each brought their own flavor to the chaos. First up was Blood Monolith, who wasted no time setting the tone for the night with an all-out death metal assault. Their drummer was absolutely insane, unleashing relentless blast beats that felt like they might shake the room apart. From the opening moments, they came out with one mission: get the crowd fired up and ready for what was ahead.

Next up was Spirit Adrift, bringing a completely different vibe to the evening. Their mix of stoner and doom metal added diversity to the lineup and gave the crowd a chance to settle into a heavier groove. The shift in style worked perfectly, creating a different energy while still keeping the momentum rolling. The audience was fully locked into their vibe and welcomed the change of pace.

Necrot hit the stage next and instantly reignited the room with explosive energy.Being from Oakland, it definitely felt like hometown support was in full force. Their set pushed the crowd into overdrive, and that was the point where the pit truly erupted. Their intensity brought out the wild side in everyone as the audience was ready to rage.

That chaos only continued to escalate as Cryptopsy finally hit the stage. Delivering a fierce set packed with crushing heaviness and deep cuts, they had the crowd going wild from start to finish. Fan favorites from their legendary album None So Vile sent the room into complete mayhem, including “Slit Your Guts,” which still carries one of the nastiest bass lines around. They also ripped through “Graves of the Fathers,” pushing the energy even higher. Even better is how the fans showed just how much they embraced their latest album, An Insatiable Violence as the crowd erupted as new material was woven into the set.

The crowd only intensified as the night went on. Stage diving became nonstop, bodies were flying, and fans were clearly releasing every bit of pent-up emotion through pure chaos and adrenaline. This was the type of show where you could leave everything behind at the door, lose yourself in the music, and let every ounce of rage out.
