Blue October SWAY tour lights it up at the Fillmore in San Francisco

One of the tours that I have been most excited about this year is the Blue October SWAY tour and last night it was San Francisco’s turn to enjoy the show.  Well, I have to say Congratulations Blue October, you truly hit out of the ballpark last night.  It was amazing in so many ways.

Their were two opening bands and both were spectacular. First you were treated to Tori Vasquez and her band. We had the pleasure of seeing her perform on Justin’s Open Book Tour and last night she played with her band. They were spot on and the crowd was really enjoying them. We have more about Tori Vasquez here.

Next up, were The Unlikely Candidates from Keller, Texas and these five guys came out with full energy and an incredible set. You can read more about their performance on our post here.

Then, Blue October took the stage and it was as if all was right in the world as I looked over to the right and saw C.B. Hudson. It was exciting to see C.B. back on tour with the band. C.B. has amazing stage presence as he steps through the fog wielding his guitar and giving a spine-tingling performance.

Justin Furstenfeld on vocals and guitar gave a  mind-blowing performance. Justin once said about the SWAY album, “This album is about why life is so beautiful. It’s about facing fears and recognizing miracles every day. It’s about enjoying yourself and realizing that life is not something you can half-ass.” Well that rings so true with his performance. He literally  gave me chills when he sang because you could just feel the emotion that would come out with each breath.

Ryan Delahoussaye always has me completely captivated as he creates such a high energy rock sound with reverbs and wahs on his violin. In addition, he displays his brilliant multi-instrument talent as  he plays guitar, mandolin, tambourine and keys on various songs.

Matt Noveskey on bass is delivers a solid performance and he does some of the best bass slapping. He is always smiling and just looks like he is having the time of his life. He is right where he belongs, on that stage and everyone enjoys watching him.

Jeremy Furstenfeld on drums pounds out some blistering rockin beats. He has such a high energy and  delivers precision drumming that connects all the music together. These five guys together created the perfect storm and a performance that I will be talking about for a long time.

If there is one tour you go to this year, I advise you to make it a Blue October SWAY show. If you are a long time Blue October fan you will just be overwhelmed with how this might be the golden crown of their performances. If you are a new fan or maybe just know a couple songs, get to the show and see what you have been missing. You will be drawn in and captivated. You may come in knowing a couple songs but you will be leaving a life long fan and a new member of the Blue October family.

We spoke to many fans on the way out and heard so much: “This was the best ever!” “Breathtaking show”, “Best concert” “The band seems so perfect right now”.  The list of compliments went on and on.  You can always judge an amazing performance when you look at the crowd and you don’t see a whole bunch of cell phones or cameras because everyone is truly “caught up in the moment” and just want to be present there.

Every time I have seen Blue October, I always leave thinking that they just put on their best performance and that they are at their peak of perfection! Then, I go see them again and they  have done the impossible by proving that they are full of surprises and continue to raise bar once again.

If you don’t have it yet, make sure to pick up SWAY their latest release. It takes you on a journey as you are emotionally embraced with captivating lyrics and alluring melodies.  You can’t help but be drawn into each song. Jeremy has said about this album:  “The band is in a really great space now, everyone is healthy, happy, and doing well. That’s changed our point of view, and you can hear that new perspective on the album.”

Make sure to visit the social media sites and check the tour dates to see if you can catch this great concert. Check out a slide show of some amazing photos by Rockin Ryan from the concert as well as a tribute video he made for “Calling You” which includes photos and footage of the evening.

~ Enjoy, Marisol
