New track from Strawberry Girls is a throwback to 2000, check out First Kiss

September 29, 2017

Strawberry Girls are ready to take you back to 2000 with their new track, First Kiss. The new song takes you back to the early 2000’s days of post-hardcore that the band grew up on.  As Guitarist Zac Garren shared, “It’s heavily influenced by the more progressive bands of that genre that defined our tastes throughout Jr High and High School. Bands like At The Drive-In, The Fall Of Troy, and The Mars Volta. I’d say it’s the closest we’ve come to writing something similar to my previous band, Dance Gavin Dance, which was fun to do.” “First Kiss” was the perfect choice for the title as the phrase creates nostalgia. Garren explained, “The title comes from the nostalgic nature we get from the song, which I personally view as a metaphor for the first time experiencing something new and special in life.” Strawberry Girls have always been a very hands-on and DIY band and as Garren added, “We enjoy the creative freedom that comes with that.” Every part of the new single was done by the [Read More]

Spotlight on Aaron Roche with release of powerful new song/video for Bang

August 31, 2017

We bring the spotlight on the powerful new song/video for Bang from Aaron Roche. The song is about having a panic attack and it truly captures the raw emotion along with the heightened senses of a vulnerable moment like that. The song is from his new album,  HaHa HuHu,  a record of his grappling with mental illness over the years of the album’s construction.  Check out the video below:     More about Aaron Roche: HaHa HuHu is the beautiful new album by Brooklyn-based songwriter and multi-instrumentalist Aaron Roche. Released through figureight records, the album acts as an anchor for Roche’s contrasting narratives: a singer-songwriter with an ear for the avant-garde; a contemporary composer who sings American folk music; an instrumentalist who works as a recording engineer. Roche’s musical CV offers some insight into his craft. He performs (guitar) in the touring bands of musicians as diverse as R. Stevie Moore, Lower Dens, Sufjan Stevens and ANOHNI, he has composed music for the American Ballet Theatre, he has played trumpet with his father’s brass ensemble.
