Time to rock out to The Jaded

April 29, 2013

The Jaded It has been quite some time that I can say that my old stomping grounds, San Francisco has produced a great rock and roll band. Don’t get me wrong, a lot of great things have come from San Francisco.  Sourdough soup bowl from Boudin’s.  Seafood at the Wharf.  The Stinking Rose. Fun nights at Candlestick. but a great rock band…. not in a while… until now. We had the pleasure of seeing San Francisco rock band, The Jaded up here at the Last Day Saloon in Santa Rosa. These guys just bring old school rock and roll and wrap in everything from funk to old school sound, that just has you wanting more and more.  The Jaded is Jimmy Steal aka Sergio on vocals/rhythm guitar, Matt Notter on bass, Downey Orrick on lead guitar/backing vocals and Elliot Starno on drums and percussion.  These four come together to send you into rock and roll bliss with their sound. We had the chance to catch up with The Jaded at their recent show at the [Read More]

Get ready for a shot of hard rock with Snakeskyn Whiskey!

March 27, 2013

Do you remember the first time you were at a concert and you were blown away by the opening band? Like seriously just excited to find out more about them and to get hooked on their music? Well that is what it was like for many fans who went out to see CrashDiet at the DNA Lounge in San Francisco this past Monday (March 25, 2013).  Out on tour with CrashDiet and opening up for them that night were the hard rockers from Montreal, Canada, Snakeskyn Whiskey. These four guys deliver in your face aggressive rock and roll with non stop energy.  If you have ever been to the top of the DNA Lounge, you will know what I am talking about when I tell you how they dominated that small stage with their big sound. We had the chance to sit down with  Snakeskyn Whiskey before the show and they told us about how diverse the music scene is in Montreal and how the different genres of music compete for the shows at the music venues. Matt Nathanson rings the “Mission Bells” with his new song

March 11, 2013

How about a sneak peek at what our local star, Matt Nathanson has in store for us on his new album? Matt has been feverishly working on his new album which will be out this summer. I can’t wait for them to do some shows and hit the road. I have been getting my MATT withdrawals and they aren’t pretty, believe me! I need to get to one of his shows soon to keep my sanity at a a bare minimum. Today Matt debuted his lyric video for his new song, “Mission Bells”. I love this video since so many places are so familiar and to see Matt having fun in the studio is another bonus.  This song also has one of my favorite lyric lines… “”I’m the end of the Hitchcock Movie, A little dark and a lot Confusing”… I LOVE THAT!! Matt does it again with his catchy lyrics and smooth vocals. Also Matt will be at SXSW 2013 and you can catch the dates on his website. So now go enjoy the new [Read More]

Tony Harnell, Ron “Bumblefoot” Thal and Cassandra Soto; the highlight of NAMM 2013!

January 30, 2013

My week at NAMM provided me with my much needed fix of music gear, great concerts, catching up with old friends and making new ones. I must tell you that my highlight of NAMM was not meeting a certain musician even though all that I met were truly wonderful in many ways. It was not about catching a concert and discovering a new band, even though I did get a chance to do just that and will tell you all about that in a future post. It was not about the parties or the dinners, those were incredible as well. My highlight was just at the tail end of NAMM. Only an hour before the entire show closes, did my highlight come. I had been so busy during the week and had missed catching Tony Harnell at one of the booths earlier and on Saturday night my husband took Ryan to the Stryper concert at the House of Blues while I took Brandon out to Downtown Disney. I missed Tony Harnell again as he was [Read More]

Sara Skinner rocks you with her angelic voice!

January 16, 2013

Sara Skinner WOW! Amazing voice that just embraces your soul. Truly the work of an angel. That is how I can describe this next artist. I have to tell you about an unbelievable new artist that I am looking forward to seeing at NAMM at the Lampifier Microphone booth next week.  That incredible voice belongs to beautiful and talented, Sara Skinner. I first heard about Sara and was asked to check out one of her cover songs that she does on her Youtube channel. She actually sings live on her videos but also has her original work.  I didn’t get the chance to watch the covers, then I got asked to watch her video for her release of her original song, “Break”.  After the first second of  hearing her voice, I was just captivated. She has such a smooth voice with mysterious edges that just leave you longing for more. It is funny since she posts her cover songs in hopes of getting viewers to listen to her originals. For me, after watching  “Break”, I [Read More]

Shinedown and the Band Meeting Gone Bad

July 18, 2012

If you are in a band you might be familiar with those band meetings that have gone wrong and how artistic differences come out and everyone is screaming to defend their own side. Well if you are not familiar with them, then Shinedown’s new video for their latest single “Enemies” gives you a glimpse in to the reality of a really bad band meeting. What is really great is that if you like Shinedown and know them well, this video is  so far from the truth. These guys are like brothers and are very close to eachother. So it is nice to see how they get to “act out” in this video and really display their personalities especially the part with Zach taking pictures on his phone and the phone breaking. Classic Zach! This is definiltey one music video that from the moment I watched it I was captivated and laughing and just purely enjoying every second of it. What a great job and one video that I can watch over and over. So if [Read More]
