An In-Depth Interview with producer/multi-instrumentalist John Kendall Royston

May 24, 2014

In today’s age of music, a producer has to wear many hats and be able to not only oversee and manage an artist’s recording, but they have to be musicians themselves and delve completely into the project. The most important aspect of the producer is to take the artist’s vision and do everything possible to make that vision a reality through their music and recording. We had the opportunity to talk an amazing producer, John Kendall Royston of Echodog Productions. Echodog Productions provide a full service creative and commercial audio production, mixing, songwriting, and voiceover services. John along with his partner Dan Mineart produced the new forthcoming album, Shadows by The Relapse Symphony. It is an amazing album that truly takes the young band to new levels within their music. Check out an interview with vocalist Bret Von Dehl here as we discussed his album. John in addition to producing, is a multi-instrumentalist and singer/songwriter for his band Savage Bones along with his producing partner, Dan. Sunflower Girl: Jill Jack is a the top of her game. By Patrick O’Heffernan

May 24, 2014

By Patrick O’Heffernan, Host,  Music FridayLive!  A wide-ranging, tightly crafted, deeply personal, pleasure-center-stimulating gift from one of the country’s most talented musical artists. I first saw Jill Jack at a club in Hollywood and she electrified the room with her unique high energy, woman-centered, heart aching country rock.  Jill Jack is amazing, awesome, fabulous and any other adjectives you can come up with for a talent that puts on a show that blows the stage away with musical fireworks.  So I got a copy of her most recent album, Sunflower Girl, to see if she is as good in the studio as she is on stage.  The answer is a definitive yes. Jill Jack and her band have opened for some of the greats of country– Bob Seger, John Waite, Emmylou Harris, Shawn Colvin, Patty Griffin, Dan Fogelberg, Marshall Crenshaw, Chris Issak, and Loretta Lynn. She has played to sellout crowds at SXSW , the Ann Arbor Folk Festival, The Bluebird Cafe and  New York’s The Living Room  among others.  There is even a PBS documentary about her scheduled for broadcast later this year. Ronnie Ficarro’s new single will have you begging for more new music!

May 24, 2014

With the departure of Ronnie Ficarro of Falling in Reverse and Max Green‘s introduction as the new bassist, it just means we get to hear new music by Ronnie! Ronnie wasted no time in giving us all a taste of his solo project as he released an amazing new track. Reminds me of my favorite quote: “Do not go where the path may lead,  go instead where there is no path and leave a trail” ~ Ralph Waldo Emerson  Ronnie Ficarro released his song, Runaway and it is amazing! It has a very punk pop feel with a rock edge. Vocals are engaging, complete with emotionally driven lyrics and is a very catchy tune. It really leaves me begging for more new music by Mr. Ficarro! The song really highlights the talent of Ronnie and his stellar songwriting skills. Some of my favorite lyrics of the song are: “Hoping and I’m praying I’ll face my fears Find what I’ve been looking for all these years” Check out the song here on Spotify:   or you can [Read More]

BLUE OCTOBER at The Altar Bar, May 14, 2014 by guest contributor Mark Iman

May 24, 2014

BLUE OCTOBER The ALTAR BAR 5-14-14  PITTSBURGH, PA by Guest Contributor Mark Iman, MarkImanConcertReview.blogspot.com Sway the seventh studio album from the Texas based band Blue October, which started out as a crowd funded project via PledgeMusic, raised over two hundred percent of their goal over the course of the campaign. Truly showing that, the fans really do make the band. Since the first time I saw them in New York, I have had the pleasure of following Blue October for the last three years. In that time I have gone from learning their music, to becoming friends with some of the most amazing people, and interacting with members of the band. It didn’t take long to see why WE consider each other family and not just fans. The same faces can be seen at multiple shows on any given leg of a tour.  Fans have been known to carpool, camp out, and stay with fellow members of the Blue October Community. Lining up as early as 7a.m. (I know for a fact because I was with [Read More]

May 24, 2014

“When the heart grieves over what is has lost, the spirit rejoices over what it has left.”  – Sufi Epigram  Suicide Silence have emerged from the tragedy of losing their frontman Mitch Lucker on October 31, 2012.  They not only lost a frontman, they lost a best friend, brother, and so much more.  It is through moving forward that their spirit rejoiced and are looking ahead into a bright future.  With the introduction of  Hernan “Eddie” Hermida as new vocalist, the band is stronger than ever and ready to do what they love, make music and perform. Suicide Silence recently released their heavy new track, “Cease To Exist” just a couple weeks ago and it has been well received and garnering a lot of great attention. It is a bad ass heavy track that you have to check out. The song comes off their forthcoming album, “You Can’t Stop Us” which is set for a July 15th release in the US. “Suicide Silence have declared You Can’t Stop Me as their most impassioned, most committed, and most important release thus [Read More]
