Hailing from Staffordshire, UK is the exceptional five piece band of Paper Tigers. They are delivering a fresh new sound of alternative rock/pop that is quite deserving of your attention. They have recently released their second record, Lifebloods which is a follow up to their critically acclaimed debut EP ”Safe In Words”.  Lifebloods will soon be the soundtrack of your summer with songs that are emotionally driven, rich in layers and passionate vocals. Paper Tigers is: Jim Carter – Vocals Sam Bloor – Bass Damon Brough – Guitar Jack Seymour – Guitar Laurence Cooper – Drums The EP starts right off with the dramatic almost Coldplay style intro of Majestic Twelve and takes you on an alternative dreamy dance style song that you will find yourself moving to and nodding in agreement. Matt Jaffe  and the Distractions expand their LA audience at The Federal Bar in NoHo.

July 10, 2014

By Patrick O’Heffernan, Host, Music FridayLive!  Matt Jaffe brought his high energy rock band The Distractions to North Hollywood’s Federal last night, energizing a respectable audience and demonstrating that he can play in larger venues in Los Angeles, the nation’s music capital.  This was a return trip for the young new wave band, having previously opened for bands at The Central in Santa Monica and the venerable, if smaller, The Mint. The young (he just finished his first year at Yale) northern California-raised guitarist and his band mates drummer Alex Coltharp and bassist Sammie Fischer have mastered the high-spirited sound that he shifted to when he exchanged the acoustic music of his high school days for an electric guitar.  With songwriting that shimmers with the best of the hard rock groups in the Southland clubs these days, Matt led his bandmates in nine new songs that showed how he has moved far beyond the slick blend-into-the-background pop music that surrounds us. And his lyrics always give us something to think about. I suspect the audience would [Read More]

The Outfield Guitarist and songwriter, John Spinks dies from liver cancer

July 9, 2014

John Spinks Rest In Peace Songwriter and guitarist for The Outfield, John Spinks has passed away at age 60 from liver cancer. The British pop rock band, The Outfeild had eight Billboard 100  hits from 1986 – 1992 which includes of course it’s Number 6 big hit, Your Love which was written by John. Their debut album, Play Deep spent 66 weeks on the chart and went Platinum. Oddly, The Outfield had great commercial success in the US much more than their homeland. I think I still have my Outfield cassettes. I wore them out and loved them. Their songs still bring me back to my youth as soon as I play them. I thank them for the great music which became the soundtrack of my youth. We send our deepest condolences to John’s family and friends. The Outfield posted the following message on their Facebook page: It is with great sadness to inform you that John passed away at 09.55 on Wednesday 9th July 2014. He was 60 years old. As many of [Read More]

Mushroomhead is definitely a highlight of Rockstar Energy Mayhem Fest

July 9, 2014

This past weekend, we made it out to the Rockstar Mayhem Fest  as it made it’s stop at the Shoreline Amphitheater on July 6th. We are looking forward to telling you about all the great sets but we wanted to tell you about one of the highlights of the Festival. We were excited to see that this band lives up to and exceeds anyone’s expectations with their energy filled dynamic set. The highlighted band we are talking about is none other than the great Mushroomhead. They came out onto the Coldcock American Herbal Whiskey stage to a packed crowd that extended all the way to the booths. The energy of the crowd was intense and once Mushroomhead began to play, the energy was raised ten fold! It was unreal and amazing. These guys deliver a non-stop adrenaline filled set that is 100% entertaining on all levels. They sounded on point the whole show and their stage presences are captivating and well deserving of a main stage. These guys should be placed on the main stage because that [Read More]
