New video for Showtime brings the spotlight on the budding young superstar Kyla Imani

September 3, 2015

Kyla Imani became a viral sensation with her kid’s version of Beyonce’s 7/11 but it is her own music that really captures your attention. The young budding superstar is set to release her EP on October 20th. 13 year old Kyla has released a music video for her song, Showtime. She comments about the video, “‘Showtime’ is really about my love of performing and how I do what I love to do! The concept for the video is that me, Kyla the fan, is at a concert where Kyla Imani the artist is performing. And as this is all happening, Kyla the director is filming it all. I had so much fun filming with all of my close friends who are all ‘Showtime’ stars in their own ways!” Check out the video here: This young multi-instrumentalist, vocalist is definitely making a name for herself. September 3, 2015

We are so excited for Amaranthe’s Massive Collision North American Tour! The tour will kick off on October 29th on The Masquerade in Atlanta, GA and will wrap up November 29th at the Rockbar in San Jose, CA. The tour will feature Butcher Babies and Lullwater. Now that is a MUST SEE TOUR! The energy that these three bands will blow the roofs off as they take over each city.   One of our concert highlights earlier this year was when Amaranthe brought the Massive Addictive Tour to San Francisco. Check out our full coverage here: Amaranthe in SF. At that show, we had the chance to chat with vocalist Jake E and guitarist Olof shortly before their set and you can check it out here: We can’t wait to see the Butcher Babies who always bring a fierce dose of adrenaline to the stage. They captivate crowds as Carla and Heidi have such a commanding presence on stage that leaves you in awe. Check out an interview with Heidi that we did at last [Read More]

Check out the new video from hard rockers, Losing September for American Hero

September 3, 2015

Hard rockers Losing September are serving up a heavy dose of metal and rock with their new video for their track, American Hero. The video was directed by Nick Rage and is off their EP of the same title. The EP is available on iTunes here. Guitarist Nick Foreman comments on the video, This was one of the most stressful videos to shoot for sure. We had to take multiple takes of us getting shot by a host of paintball guns from about 10 yards away while blindfolded. It was the first music video off our new 5 song EP called American Hero, so it had be a little more daring than our other music videos we’ve done. We wanted to push the envelop a little bit more on this one. Check out the video here:   They will be touring in support of their EP with a tour that kicks off on September 4th in Akron, Ohio. Check out the dates here: 09/04 – Empire – Akron, Ohio 09/05 – Pappy Z’s Farm Fest [Read More]

Aftershock 2015

Our Aftershock Spotlight Band is Highly Suspect

September 3, 2015

Today our Aftershock Spotlight Band is Highly Suspect.  Now I will have to tell you about when they first announced the lineup for this year’s Aftershock Festival, Highly Suspect had me jumping in excitement!  I am so glad that they are on the bill and I can’t wait to see them. I  first heard them months ago when I was switching channels on my XM radio and came across the last chorus of Lydia being played on Octane. I was blown away by the smooth yet powerful vocals that blared on my radio. I was glad to quickly glance at the name and caught the song title only. I am serious when I tell you, I rushed home to look up Lydia and came across the song by Highly Suspect. I was in heaven, the song completely rocks and brings out a smooth blues vibe and infectious style. Next, I picked up their just released album, Mister Asylum. I became even more enamored with their music! They are just about to set out on a [Read More]

Interview with Brian Corn of the powerhouse three piece rock band, QUOR

September 2, 2015

The powerful three piece rock band QUOR from San Diego was not always known by that name. Originally they were called We Are Going To Be Awesome and they had changed their name after Guitarist/Vocalist Brian Corn saw a giant liquor store sign glowing off in the distance on a foggy night out on the Pacific Coast Highway. Brian comments about how the catchy name came about, “The L and I were out and the sign read QUOR. I had to stop and photograph the sign.  The band name was changed to QUOR as we wanted a simple unique name.  The name QUOR poked at the current state of rock labeling everything into ‘core’ genre’s (hardcore, mathcore, metalcore, etc etc.) and we also avoided the trends in band naming that make every band sound the same.”  Even though the band is fairly new to the scene, forming in 2012, QUOR have since been gained quite a dedicated fanbase and their music can be described as their original moniker, AWESOME.  They are just about to release [Read More]

John Mayall Find a Way to Care: 70 years of singing the blues and still exploring. By Patrick O’Heffernan

September 2, 2015

John Mayall is on a tear.  Last year he released his first studio album in five years, A Special Life, and in April of this year he released John Mayall’s Bluesbreakers – Live 1967 (Never Before Heard Live Performances), and this Friday he is releasing his newest alum Find a Way to Care, filled with looking-back-at-life originals and modern experimentations with classic cover songs – and it is a knockout.  Not bad for a musician who has been singing the blues for 70 years.   If you are a John Mayall fan this album is heaven;  if you are a blues fan, put this album on and you will arrive in the same divine place. Produced at the House of Blues Studio in Encino, CA, by Mayall and Eric Corne of Forty Below Records, the album is a lively mixture of new songs about old times and new tunings of old covers.  The final result is earphone candy for the Mayall aficionado and a top of the playlist album for blues fans in general.
