Junk Parlor’s new Melusina album:  dangerous, wild, fun.

March 21, 2016

(Los Angeles). Gypsy rock and roll.  Sounds dangerous.  Actually it is dangerous but a lot of fun.  And no one does it better than Junk Parlor, as their latest album, Melusina demonstrates.  Melusina is like taking a drug – a big rush, continuing high, then addiction, often accompanied by dancing.  True to its Melusina namesake, the twin-tailed mermaid long used as a symbol in alchemy to represent female sexuality and the dual nature of humanity, the album is a combination of wild abandon, joyful cavorting and dark tales.   Junk Parlor’s founder and leader, Jason Vanderford, has conjured a gypsy-cadenced album that recalls the classic belly dance LP’s of Ala Turk or Radio Bastet and mixed them with instrumental gypsy folk melodies and a touch of rock.  He weaves this bubbling concoction together with his howling, haunting voice and cinematic lyrics. The result is a unique music form that you just can’t get out of you head. But then, why would you want to? Melusina unfurls in ten songs, some instrumental and some [Read More]

Monster Enerty Outbreak Tour kicks off in San Francisco with Issues and more.

March 20, 2016

The Monster Energy Outbreak Tour kicked off this past weekend in San Francisco at The Regency Ballroom. The tour features Issues, Crown the Empire, ONE OK Rock and Night Verses. With the diverse lineup, it drew in a great crowd. The night kicked off with a nice heavy dose of genre-defying music by Night Verses. With their dark lighting and high energy, they created an intense energy that got everyone pumped. Check out some photos: Next up was the amazing rock band from Japan, ONE OK Rock. I was looking forward to seeing them again since being first introduced to them at Vans Warped Tour a couple years back and seeing them at Aftershock 2015. They delivered a flawless set with unrivaled high energy. The energy these guys bring to the stage is infectious and you can’t help but feel the adrenaline flowing through you as they play.  They are jumping around the stage as their adrenaline can’t be contained. You couldn’t help but be in awe of the jumps and stage performance. We were [Read More]

Supergroup of rockers, The Local Band release new video

March 18, 2016

The Local Band is a great supergroup of rockers featuring Alexi Laiho 0f Children Of Bodom, Jussi69 of The 69Eyes, Olli Herman of Reckless Love and Archie Cruz of Santa Cruz.  What started as a group of friends having drinks in Los Angeles at Christmas time in 2013, soon flourished into a high demand rock band. As the story goes: It was a warm dark night before Christmas in Los Angeles in 2013. Jussi 69 (The 69 Eyes) and Alexi Laiho (Children Of Bodom) met in Hollywood, had a couple of drinks and… Alexi: “Dude, we gotta get together, play some Poison, Mötley and drink some Jack.” Jussi: “Ok, when?” Alexi: “Christmas.” Jussi: “Cool.” They shook hands and swore that they really were going to make this happen. The key word and the whole idea behind The Local Band would be to have FUN. No stress, no pressure, and definitely no business plans. Right after Jussi and Alexi decided to do this, it was obvious they would need a charismatic singer, one who could handle all the classic hard [Read More]
