Concert review: Kieran Robertson with Ravenfield. Contributed by Alex Bock

May 24, 2017

Munich, Garage Deluxe, May 6th 2017 Kieran Robertson, a young musician from Scotland, made stop in Munich that night at the Garage Deluxe. A small cozy club close to Munich East train station. Small as it is, it has some awesome acts on its schedule. It’s hard to draw people on a Saturday in a city like Munich, where there’s clubs and venues on end. So only a few people showed up that night. A fact that didn’t stop Kieran though from delivering an awesome performance. Kieran recently played guitar on some US-shows for Geoff Tate (ex-Queensryche) and there’ll be more collaboration after that small tour through Germany is done. There’s only three German dates set this time. One of them was Munich. So if you want to check Kieran Robertson out live, I suggest you catch him in Hamburg on May 26th at Marias Ballroom or Berlin on May 27th at the Maze. Don’t’ miss it! Opening act in Munich was a local band called Ravenfield. Make sure to follow Kieran on social [Read More]

Lord Of The Lost announce Ensemble Tour 2017

May 21, 2017

Just about two weeks after they finished their headlining tour through Germany and Austria, German Dark Rock band Lord Of The Lost announce the Ensemble Tour 2017. In 2015 the band already did a successful acoustic tour with a classic ensemble. Check out our report from April 2015 at https://musicjunkiepress.com/music/concert-review-lord-of-the-lost-and-florian-grey-in-munich-by-alexandra/.  Many fans hoped for a comeback of this arrangement and the band listened. Tickets are already available at www.lordofthelost.extratix.de. Better be quick, because there will be seats, so there won’t be as many tickets available for that shows. Lord Of The Lost just recently signed a worldwide record deal with Napalm records, an Austrian label. First release on that label will be another acoustic/ensemble record, ‘Swan Songs 2’, announced for fall 2017. The duo Mitré soars and harmonizes at DTLA’s  plush Continental Club.

May 21, 2017

Patrick O’Heffernan (Los Angeles) The duo  Mitre, composed of Louis Mitré and Andie Sandóval,  introduced new songs and old favorites at a BMI showcase sponsored by Peroni at the plush Continental Club in downtown Los Angeles Friday night. They were joined, as usual, by Hugo Melendez in his La Katarina persona, delighting the jam-packed room with his startlingly accurate costume and make up by Ruben Lopez. While the new duo has appeared in several live events around Los Angles over the past few months, this was an official coming out party in a major club in both English and Spanish (all the songs were in Spanish but the conversations from the stage was bi-lingual). Louis Mitre has worked with a number of female singers-songwriters over the past year or so including Alih Jey and Irene Diaz, to add female color to his own astonishingly rich voice.  Andie Sandoval, a singer-songwriter originally from Sinaloa in Mexico seems to be the perfect complement, both in vocal range, songwriting and stage presence, hence the new duo. Interview with Justin of Blue October ahead of their stellar performance at The Fillmore in San Francisco

May 20, 2017

Earlier this week we headed to the legendary Fillmore as Blue October brought the Heart Go Bang Tour to San Francisco. We have impatiently waited for this date to arrive. See, Blue October was not just another band for us to cover, they are a band that had provided the playlist to my life’s ups and downs for the past 20 years. Most recently in March, during my Mother’s hospice care at home, she would lay next to me and listen to Blue October, nearly silent for days, yet show would respond and tell me she liked the songs. Her favorite during that time, The Feel Again, (Stay).  What a heavy song and yet, I truly clutched to those words… Stay… selfishly I wanted more time with her.  After she passed away, I could feel the dark depression setting in as it had with my Father 5 years earlier. But I turned to music and once again to Blue October. Their latest album, Home which shot up the charts to a No. 1 spot [Read More]
