Joe comments about how SWEETZERLAND MANIFESTO came together:   “I had just finished writing my autobiography ‘Rocks’ with David Ritz so we’d been based in LA. My friend and future bandmate Johnny (Depp) offered the use of his studio to record my new solo record. VIDEO TO WATCH: Check out Light Up the Town and their Punk goes Pop video for Stay

July 30, 2018

One of our favorite bands, Light Up The Town have released a fun nostalgic video for their Punk Goes Pop Cover of Stay by Zedd 9Ft. Alessia Cara).  It is a great nod to the 80’s vibe and it is a great cover. “After seeing so many bands who came up with covers and punk goes pop versions of songs (like our friends from Vanilla Sky did it with Umbrella, back in those days..)” They were ready to do the same. Of course trying to pick the right song can be the struggle, but they picked a great one and ran with it. “Take a good and catchy song and change it into a rock version. It had to be one, which has been in the charts for a long time, so people would recognize it. So we came across ‘Stay’.  And as some of our friends are huge fans of ‘Stranger Things’, we thought about making it this way; slightly 80’s style and lots of fairy ligts, like they use to have in the [Read More]

We have truly been smitten with Kitten since catching them open for Blue October show at August Hall. The show was absolutely amazing. They were incredible and have left a lasting impression on us.  They are an indie rock band from Los Angeles that brings to life a style of free fun loving alternative rock that was straight from the ’90s but with a fresh paint of energy and style. They reminded me of my all-time favorite band of the 80s’ & 90’s The Divinyls. They have an infectious charismatic energy that radiates from each one. Their stage presence was captivating [Read More]

Pain and Power. X.ARI releases Dis. Order EP at Hollywood’s Sayer’s Club.

July 27, 2018

By Patrick O’Heffernan and BINX (Hollywood) When we think of “healing music” what often comes to mind are the languorous strains of Steve Halpern or ragas for meditation.  That music can be healing, but they are not the only kinds of music that can restore us; there is music that can also turn personal pain into power, the power to defeat your demons, to live life no matter what, to shed fear.  This is what the electro pop singer X.ARI has been doing for most of her musical life, using music to turn pain into power. She showed us how she does that at Hollywood’s edgy Sayers Club in the release show for her breathtaking  new EP, Dis-Order. X.ARI’s interior world has always been different, painful, sometimes close to suicidal. Music is her treatment, her unapologetic voice that rocks, croons and screams in catharsis.  She is always on the edge in her performance, her costume, her songwriting.  Her concerts are a kind of electric shock treatment cum psychotherapy done in public.  They come leavened with [Read More]
