Modern Error release debut album “Victim Of A Modern Age”

January 22, 2022

#NEWRELEASEFRIDAY had a special treat this week – Modern Error released their debut record “Victim Of A Modern Age”. To celebrate the fact, twin brothers Zak and Kel Pinchin, also shared the video for “Only One”. “I get caught in cycles thinking if I’m ever in the place I should be, who I should be, if I’m doing right by life or if anyone is at all” says Zak Pinchin. “I think that kind of existential dread might fill a lot of peoples minds in this modern way of living. ‘Only One’ was written around the idea of reflection, seeing yourself and the world for what it truly is and becoming one with it, in order to evoke a positive change. Conceptually as part of ‘Victim Of A Modern Age’, its reflection and realisation of the state of the world”. It is a truth universally acknowledged: life is about balance. The duality of light and shade; the interior and the exterior; the social and the personal. Thesis, anthesis, and, perhaps, eventual synthesis. For twin brothers [Read More]

Boston Manor release acoustic version of “Algorithm”

January 22, 2022

Boston Manor have released a new acoustic rendition of their recent single “Algorithm”. It’s a delicately lush, piano-led iteration of the track which is a rumination of the burden to perpetuate “content” beyond art, that creators are laden with these days. The original version of “Algorithm” features on Boston Manor’s “Desperate Times, Desperate Pleasures” EP, which was released in October via their new label SharpTone Records to critical acclaim. The EP is now available on 10” vinyl, following its digital and cassette tape formats. “Desperate Times, Desperate Pleasures” marks a concerted step into the future for Boston Manor. It’s the coining of a bold, bright new sound, building upon the bruising pop-punk of their earlier work, the big moves of last album “GLUE”, to compose music that’s both heavier and more unabashedly accessible than that which preceded it. Hook-laden, coherent, blackly witty, and with a molten emotional core, it’s the opening of a new chapter, hinting at even greater brilliance to follow. This latest collection sees Boston Manor tapping into teen influences of the late [Read More]

Ocean Grove announce new album and share new single/video

January 22, 2022

Ocean Grove have announced details of their visionary third album “Up In The Air Forever”, out April 22 via UNFD. Birthed straight from the belly of Ocean Grove’s creative engine – none other than their own Oddworld™ universe – “Up In The Air Forever” is a 10-track, genre-bending epic musical journey. An evolution of the trio’s early heavy sound, the record finds Ocean Grove leaning into their strengths in the worlds of Brit-rock, pop, grunge, and punk and ultimately confirms them as a creative force that can’t be tamed. Celebrating personal freedom, expression and creativity, the record is characterised by strong anarchic sentiments and resentment for a system that squashes individualism and anti-“norm” ideas. Following the reveal of their summery earworm “CALI SUN”, Ocean Grove are lifting a second taste of the album with the reveal of their uplifting anthem “SILVER LINING” last week alongside its new music video. “We want nothing but to empower the listener with a positive mental attitude (PMA), especially in their darkest hours when they may feel completely lost in [Read More]

Banks Arcade return with new single “Smile”

January 20, 2022

New Zealand-via Melbourne act Banks Arcade return with their brooding, attitude-fuelled new single and video “Smile” today. Mashing intense color and visual energy into its accompanying lyric video, viewers will be confronted by the stark lyricism of “Smile” that brings home its message: “We’re all too good at getting numb“. Banks Arcade vocalist Joshua O’Donnell shares more on the meaning behind the track: “The future feels uncertain for a lot of people at the moment. We feel lost and unsure of where we’re headed, and it can lead to a lot of masochism and unhealthy escapism. ‘Smile’ comments on this pleasure seeking mentality and a culture that is obsessed with self gratification” he says. “Most of us recognise we are living in a broken, unsustainable state, but we refuse to acknowledge it. We’ve all become the devil on each other’s shoulders and the cycle of negative affirmations and encouragement is leading us to a dark place. Everyone is in pain but we’re so concerned about saving face….hear the lyric ‘Keep that smile cause it won’t [Read More]

Moodring release brand new single/video for “Disintegrate”

January 20, 2022

Moodring have kicked off their 2022 in style by unveiling a brand new single – the soaring mini-epic, Disintegrate. Almost one year to the day since the Florida quartet revealed themselves to the world with debut single “Show Me The Real You“, “Disintegrate” marks the first new Moodring music recorded since their signing to UNFD, and showcases an ascendance to the next plane of their songcraft. Shimmering guitars swirl, shift and pulse around lead vocalist Hunter Young’s ethereal yet impassioned melodies, building to a climax that will raise every hair of anyone with a heartbeat. “The sound of Moodring derives from an eclectic mix of genres, but it’s when we can contrast these differences within one song that we really thrive, and I think this track is a key example of that” says Hunter; “On the surface the song is this beautiful, epic “gazer”, but lyrically it delves into much heavier subjects, such as the hopelessness one can feel when everything you pursue seems constantly out of your grasp, and the nihilistic tendencies that I [Read More]

Weatherstate release music video for “Headstone”

January 20, 2022

Weymouth punk band Weatherstate have today shared a brand new music video for their latest single “Headstone”. It’s a contemplative punk track and marks the latest from Weatherstate’s forthcoming album “Never Better”, set to be released 11th February 2022 via Rude Records. “Probably the second softest song on the record, and not being as morbid as the name might suggest, ‘Headstone’ is about trying to make something out of ourselves in the time we have here”, the band share. “It’s okay to go through periods of life unhappy and that’s what makes the good bits all the better. ‘Catch me I don’t want to come down’ specifically relates to friends being around when you need a safety net, and how important it is to have the support network that can get you through those monotonous times. We’re only around here for so long, and that’s the way it is, we shouldn’t beat ourselves up too much, and it’s completely okay to sometimes just roll with the punches”. Weatherstate have risen to the challenges that COVID [Read More]
