The Architects bring some good ole’ fashion punk rock to life at the Ace of Spades

April 2, 2014

Last night we were at the Ace of Spades for the Blue October SWAY tour and the opening band really kicked ass!! Opening the tour for Blue October on this next leg of their SWAY tour is a punk rock band from Kansas City, MO. Allow me to introduce you to The Architects. The Architects are Brandon on Guitar/Vocals, Adam on Drums Brown Drums, Zach on Bass/Vocals and Keenan on Guitar. These four guys deliver a set fueled with high energy old fashioned punk rock. In a time where music contains so many genres, subgenres, cores, etc it is nice to see a band not trying to create the “next new sound” but instead perfecting an old familiar favorite; punk rock. They were truly awesome and you should definitely try to catch them when they are coming to a venue near you. We were able to pick up their album BORDER WARS, a concept album and comic book that is presented in five episodes. It is a great marketing tool as well as a interesting comic book that could stand alone outside [Read More]

Blue October reawakens your soul with their spectacular performance on the SWAY Tour

April 1, 2014

Last night was pretty much the highlight for me of 2014! We went out to see Blue October at the Ace of Spades, as they have begun another leg of the SWAY tour. I caught them last year as they put on a spectacular performance in San Francisco.  Every time I leave a Blue October concert, I catch myself saying the exact same thing… I never thought they could exceed how excellent they were at their last performance and every time, they prove me wrong. They hit it out of the ballpark each and every time. Last night was another one of those unbelievable sets. We arrived to a packed house on a Monday night at the Ace of Spades. One thing I love about Blue October fans, is there is no cookie cutter fan. Blue October‘s music extends across genres, generations and cultures. The room was filled with a diverse passionate crowd that comes together for the pure love of Blue October‘s music.  Many fans who have never met, were soon sharing their Blue [Read More]

Three Days Grace release new song “Painkiller”

March 31, 2014

Three Days Grace recently put out the announcement that Matt Walst would be permanently joining Three Days Grace as lead singer. Even better news is that the band has been working on new music and have just released a new song, Painkiller which will be available tomorrow on Itunes. Check out the song here:     It is nice to see the band putting out new music. Of course, you will always have the fans focus on the obvious that Adam Gontier is not part of the band anymore but you need to focus on what is Three Days Grace today. We wish Adam the best in his music endeavors just as we wish all the best to Three Days Grace.  So let’s all take a listen to the new song and  pick it up tomorrow on Itunes!  One of my favorite quotes rings true: “You can’t start the next chapter of your life if you keep re-reading your last one.”. So let’s look forward to the future!  I will leave you with a slideshow [Read More]

The Light Iris delivers essential metalcore to the DNA Lounge during set with Eyes Set to Kill

March 30, 2014

It was only a couple weeks ago that we were out at the DNA Lounge covering the Eyes Set to Kill show. The night was filled with some great music. You can check out our articles on Eyes Set To Kill and Cilver.  We were excited to be treated to a San Francisco band and they really delivered Metalcore/Post Hardcore at it’s finest.  It was the first time I saw them but definitely not the last. They are a young band from San Francisco formed back in 2009 and have a couple EPs out that should be required listening! Head over to Itunes and pick up Cities Built on Ruins of Regret  and The Damaged and The Saved.  These guys have a powerful stage presence and filled the room with their intense energy.  I really look forward to catching them again. Check out the videos from Rockin Ryan, one a tribute video featuring footage and photos from the set and one live footage.  When you watch them, you will get hooked and I hope you get a [Read More]

Cilver took over the DNA Lounge and prove they are a show NOT TO MISS!

March 29, 2014

We were able to catch Cilver as they were out on tour with the Revolver Hottest Chicks in Hard Rock Tour along with Lacuna Coil, Eyes Set to Kill and Sick Puppies. We were excited when we found out they were playing an off night with Eyes Set to Kill at the DNA Lounge in San Francisco. First off, the DNA Lounge is a legendary nightclub where I spent most of the 90’s from what I can remember! Cilver performed in the upstairs stage and it was awesome. Being able to see Cilver up close and personal in that intimate setting was exactly what I needed. The energy from them was bouncing off the walls and reverberating through the crowd. They truly captivated the crowd and with their fierce intensity left us all wanting more!  Cilver is an American Rock band from New York and they have been rapidly rising on the charts and gaining a lot of attention with their amazing hit, In My Head which features Bumblefoot (Guns n Roses). Check out the song [Read More]
