This new album, “GONZO is the kind of album that was screaming to be released. It is at once this phenomenal band’s most soothing, searing, heavy, biting, dreamy, and generally jarring statement to date, in a career built upon unorthodoxy. Recorded with famed engineer Steve Albini (Nirvana, Fugazi, The Pixies, Iggy & The Stooges) over a dreary Halloween holiday in Chicago, IL, GONZO evokes a level of fierce impassioned authenticity previously unheard in Foxy’s back catalogue. Recorded entirely live in one room, in running order, vocals and all, the album is a tremendous feat of will, talent, and artistic integrity in an age when delivering anything remotely challenging is oft considered taboo.”

Gonzo

I already started to take a listen to it and I am loving it. Once again Foxy Shazam brings the honesty back in to their music creating their own unique style.  I love the bluesy and jazz feel that so many of the songs deliver and Brutal Truth is one bad ass raw song! Shoe Box is an emotionally driven song that has the perfect raw soulful edge to it and the passionate vocals on it bleed through. Don’t Give In is a catchy as shit song that has that “it” feel to it. I love the energy and stripped down bareness of it, the music; transferring a vulnerability into a state of empowerment. It is one of my favorite songs on the album. Head over to www.foxyshazam.com and pick up your free copy of Gonzo!

I am looking forward to their tour and hope they are planning to add some California dates. Foxy Shazam has also confirmed for The Bunbury Music Festival on July 12 in Cincinnati, where they will play alongside The Flaming Lips, Fitz and The Tantrums, Paramore, Fall Out Boy and many more! Visit their social media sites so you can stay up to date on their latest news.
