Interview with Niki English by Patrick O’Heffernan of Music Friday Live!

January 28, 2014

Interview:  Niki English, lead singer and songwriter for Western Avenue country band. Country music was once described in the famous B.J. Thomas 1975 recording, as  “somebody done -somebody-wrong songs”.  the genre’s stock in trade got expanded to include trucks, beer and unemployment. Not  Western Avenue. they are a whole different ballgame. The Canadian-based trio of Niki English,  Keith Robertson and Matt Williams have developed country into a powerful vehicle for deep feeling and expressive writing without sacrificing an inch of country vitality. They combine the ethos of country with the warmth of love songs and the heat of rock.  The lyrics they write and play are about loss and joy and nostalgia,  and most of all, about hope.  And they do it with great hooks,  earworm melodies and  classic country arrangements .  They call it “hot country”, and it’s a long way from somebody-done-somebody- wrong songs.   It is no wonder Western Avenue has been nominated for the Nashville Universe Award for best country vocal group. Niki English, songwriter and lead singer of Western Avenue [Read More]

Motley Crue announces FINAL Tour with Alice Cooper. “ALL BAD THINGS MUST COME TO AN END”

January 28, 2014

Today Motley Crue held a press conference in Hollywood at Beacher’s Madhouse Theater to release as they said, “The Biggest Announcement of Their Career”. Last week during the NAMM convention, we had received the confirmation that Alice Cooper was going to be on their Farewell Tour but of course, since it was all “off the record” we respectfully held back on our reports.  Eddie Trunk (That Metal Show) did tweet a photo earlier this month that was to be the ad for the FINAL Tour. The tweet has since been deleted and it was later described as a mock up of a rumor, but here is the photo: MÖTLEY CRÜE will kick off their 72 date tour of North America on July 2nd. In addition to tickets being as inexpensive as $15 or $20 so they can insure that everyone gets a chance to see this FINAL TOUR, they will also have a variety of VIP Packages, including Meet & Greets and are available at www.motleyvip.com.   Check out the dates that are listed below: Jul [Read More]

TRAGIC FAN DEATH AFTER STAGE DIVE AT SUICIDAL TENDENCIES CONCERT

January 28, 2014

On January 22, Suicidal Tendencies performed in Solothurn, Switzerland with Terror, Strife and Evergreen Terrace. It was a night full of high energy, moshing, stage diving and loud kick ass music. Unfortunately, a 28 year old man from Solothurn attempted a stage dive and the crowd didn’t exactly catch him correctly as he fell to the floor. All seemed to be ok as the man got up and walked around.  The venue security quickly acted to insure the man was alright as they insisted on him being evaluated at the hospital. “Our team decided, however, that he is immediately taken to hospital care,” Pipo Kofmehl explained. Sadly, complications arose for the young man and he died after  a seizure on January 24th.  Although the prosecutor’s office has launched an investigation into the incident,  a spokeswoman for the state police, Thalia Schweize was certain that the death was accidental. It is quite a sad story and definitely reminds us of the tragic death of Daniel Nosek at the Lamb of God concert in 2010 in which [Read More]

Tomorrows brings to life alternative rock

January 18, 2014

There is a great Alternative Rock band that you have to check out. They are called Tomorrows and is the work of brothers Jack and Jim Ivans. Their live musicians are Cullen MacDonald on Guitars and James Tan on Bass.  I love my alternative rock and San Francisco in the ’90s seemed to give me an abundance of alternative bands to listen too, that just isn’t so true these days. But now with the find of Tomorrows I can revive my love for alternative rock! Tomorrows is from New York City and this year, you will definitely be hearing a lot more from them. They bring to life pop/rock with an alternative edge. Their songs have emotionally driven lyrics and melodies that just grab a hold of you. They are releasing a full length album, The Code Duello which will be out later this year. I recently have fallen in love with their first single of their upcoming album, “Heartbreakers“. Check it out here:   “Heartbreakers” has some fierce guitars, catchy chorus/hook and lyrically tells a great story.Their [Read More]
